Seriously, the guy is an angel. I couldn't see him wanting to participate in the dirty side of college football (recruiting). Nor could I see him condoning cheating in any way. He's a great guy and a great coach, but I don't see him making Ole Miss championship competitive.

OM thinks, due to recent experience, that you have to get turned down 3 or 4 times before you hire a coach. They're just going ahead and getting the first one over with.

What's the harm in contacting, Gruden, Peterson, Dungy, Patterson, etc? All they can say is hell, 17 no. Being "realistic" is for pansies. We need to go after the big fish. If they don't bite, float to another hole and get back after it.

For the record. I agree 100% that Dungy would make a terrible college HC. I don't want him. But damn on that realism garbage.

But with Dungy, Leach, Rich Rod et al, I say go after them and don't worry about who knows. At least it paints a picture to the rest of the country that we're not leaving any stone unturned. We're going to interview any and all comers and offer them all, starting at the tip top, all the way down.

Where will we end up? Who knows. Will we start at the Petersons of the coaching world and end up with 17ing Hugh Freeze? It's possible. But I'd rather end up with Freeze knowing that we tried everyone else first, rather than going after Freeze first and THINKING we can't have anyone else.

Dungy has NEVER coached in college. Went undrafted out of Minnesota, played on a team that won 4, 7, 4, and 6 games. He's never had to recruit. He's never had to play 17-18 year old students in his schemes. Dungy is a great man, but he wouldn't be in my top 5 for head coach.

They have to do something to create a positive spin. Pretty sure Dungy has zero intent to coach on the college level. As it's been said they don't even have the committee formed yet. Smart PR though, you have to give them that. Impressionable high school age kids will fall for it for a little while.
