2. I think Kentucky IS seen as a tier below Duke right now. I don't think anything KSR does or says changes the national perception.

Not really a surprise. Duke has tons of built in advantages. Nike funnels recruits to them, they have tons of former players in broadcasting and in other positions of basketball power. They have a Nike executive as their GM. The refs are notoriously friendly with them. Coach K was allowed to coach team USA every single time the Olympics were played. Which Bob Knight called BS. It just goes on and on.

If we had people questioning our program and pointing out that the job is slipping, pointing out the program slip slipping, you know. I mean like Jerry Tipton, that dude everybody hate Jerry Tipton but I do probably protect Kentucky on so many fronts I mean because look if he doesn’t take down Sutton, Sutton‘s gonna have a middling career Patino never comes. We never really like change like we never really like recalibrate as a program without tipped in without the investigate of journalism from the herald leader and now we don’t have that. It’s a bunch of people wanna be who are afraid for whatever reason number one they were afraid they were terrified of Barney number two though they’re afraid of losing access. That’s what it’s all about every time somebody writes something or says something that a coach doesn’t like or Barney doesn’t like president doesn’t like instead of letting shining light on it to get to the truth. They just wanna shut it down that means we get nothing in the way of truth. It’s always every season every off-season. It’s just a bunch of fans speculating UK journalism is awful. Why why hasn’t anyone had an interview with Mark Pope outside of UK’s yes, man ? Why hasn’t he sat down and like told us what to expect going forward like what’s he gonna do? What’s he gonna change? You’ll keep the fans in the dark about things and that’s not positive man. It’s a negative thing. That means that he’s like trying to hold onto the program while it’s slipping out of his fingers instead he should dress big blue nation.

Barney should address big blue nation anytime someone gets called out for something they go into hiding that’s an implication of guilt. And that’s what these guys do what they have done.. they just run all over our media and our media like Mike Leach or yes men they’re not they don’t. They’re never gonna ask the difficult questions therefore until changes occur and there’s accountability these outsiders who are running in the university are gonna continue to work it as a good old boy network they’re they’re gonna continue to keep Mark Pope . These outsiders brought in to run our university, especially our university, but also our athletics. They have no clue of what the tradition is like what the standard is Eli won’t make a hire man than anyone’s happy with. And honestly, he should recuse himself because he’s so old. He should be retired when somebody’s at that stage in their career they shouldn’t be making big decisions like that. They should leave it up to a team of younger people to bring in the right guy instead of Eli bringing in somebody who will work well with him so much so much has been stolen from the state of Kentucky and the people from the hard-working people, the people who love the blue and white has been stolen from them by these outsiders, Eli Barney, and then there’s others the assistants to these guys. It’s a shame. I know a lot of people hated Tipton, but that guy kept our university kept our programs honest I think as he you know in his old age here he kind of crashed. He didn’t have the energy and that’s the problem we get a whole bunch of new people, right new people in the journalism the same way where the hell they come from what’s their background promise you they don’t love university of Kentucky like we do true blue fans.

No…they hurt the program in some ways but that ain’t one of them.
For instance MJ was going scorched earth after the Oakland game. Said this isn’t the standard and it was time for a separation.
Now? Crickets. Endorsed Pope for a third year. What changed in the past 2 seasons? Last season was like 5 Oaklands. Where’s the outrage from him? We need to be consistent about what our standard actually is.

I don’t think it is at all. And I don’t think “right now” matters because the line has always shifted and always will. You cannot be the best ever day in every year in every way. I feel like this debate is argued form a misunderstood position.

Kentucky Duke Kansas UNC - these are the best jobs. Which one is the best? Well, it depends on factors. If the coach is from Kansas, and his parents live in Kansas, then Kansas is the best job to him. If the UNC job is open, that’s the best job to coaches. If Kentucky and Kansas are hiring? Who makes you more well known? What fanbase is the biggest? Which state lets you be a movie star? Who has the most resources? Kentucky checks all of those boxes over Kansas. Next the statistics. Kentucky leads Kansas in all categories there are. It’s the better job.

Duke is irrelevant because they’re literally never hiring and not an obtainable job while K has a hand in on it. Also, who wants to follow him? You have to still answer to him and answer for his shadow. That’s not a good job. That’s an annoying job.

Kentucky, when you consider all the factors, is likely the best job and always really will be. Programs go up and down some that doesn’t make the job any less desirable.

and Kentucky leads Duke in almost every single category. Nearly all out of 60+. It’s definitely not a tier above UK. Recency bias doesn’t matter. We can’t help the NCAA and Nike have created a fake program.

Truth hurts. You can't pick someone from the passengers on a plane to fly it if the captain can't fly it. The captain is an important position and it matters who sits in that seat.

Why would UK be ranked highee than Duke right now? I’m surprised we are even tied for 2nd. How does Pope with no prior success get the 2nd best job in college basketball?

Because our university president is an Alabama alum who couldn’t give a crap about Kentucky sports as long as it’s making money and he can control it. And our AD is some kind of ego trip contractaholic who doesn’t seem to give a crap about Kentucky sports as long as he can control it and it’s making money.
