I don't think he struggles with it at all. We'll see when he's had a year to recruit against Mullen with the playing field a bit more level.

If that was a shot at Freeze, I think it was a pretty weak one.

How bad does the train wreck over there have to be for you to stop showing up and justifying all things OM for 24 hours? Mullen was obviously making fun of Freeze and all the preaching he does, and apparently his daugther loves to do the sameon twitter when her feelings are hurt because an Oxford kid won't play for daddy. Basically, everybody is having a good laugh at Freeze and you can't make us stop.

though this is the first time I think I've heard Mullen make mention of it in a press conference in 4 years.

He hear Saban and Les are always talking about Jesus to get their great recruiting classes. ****
Your logic is pisspoor and fails. You're just making an excuse for your part-time preacher/part-time coach.

a good one too it seems. It remains to be seen what will become of Freeze. His start is similar to Croom's and Freeze actually put forth an effort. Plus Freeze has the Ole Miss method at his disposal and still struggled.

I think we did much better, even after "The Shutout" in Oxford under Crooms... That's apples to apples... Freeze is not gonna last more than 3 years...

Mullen held on to most of the leans/commits already on board in state and only added a handful of his own recruits to the mix. Freeze did basically the same thing. The big difference is that Croom had built a heavy lead in state for the 2009 class. Nutt was behind big time in state for the 2012 class.

Your 2009 class was loaded with quality Mississippi commits when Croom was fired, guys that had pretty well shut it down already. All Mullen had to do was come in and sell them on a program they were already planning to join. Not only that, but the majority of the battles Mullen won the rest of the way were guys that were already leaning to MSU before the coaching change.

That's the way it goes when you have a transition class. Your class is only going to be as good as the previous coach left it for you. Nutt left us behind the 8 ball on the majority of prospects with not enough time to make it up. Croom had the hay in the barn in 2009. It was already on its way to being a Top 20 class before Mullen took it over and signed it.

You can't compare transition classes for that reason. Now, if you want to compare your 2010 class to Freeze's 2013 class this time next year, that'll be a fair comparison, since they'll have both started from the same point.

Freeze got screwed by having a lame duck for the last month of the season. If croom had thought he would be fired, he probably would have left Mullen a similar class, setting MSU back another two years.

...u know...liggins may have chosen LSU but that was God's plan for him and we (Ole Miss) will find a better QB that God wants us to have...

Yes, most of them committed to Croom but were even more solidified when Mullen got there. Remember, Mullen was the OC at Florida and was playing for a National Championship.

Cox and Boyd weren't going anywhere anyway, no matter the coach. Mullen's staff (Koenning) solidified Russell and Pernell McPhee. McPhee actually chose MSU, not an actual coach. Ask him, he'll tell you, he loved NE MS for some weird reason. We ABSOLUTELY DO NOT get Sanders, Slay, Perkins, Thames, Bumphis, Berry, Langston and Brauchle without Mullen. Saying Mullen did nothing in that class is ludicrous at best. You're just rationalizing as usual.

A better comparison is Croom's first class to Freeze's first. Similar situations, program in turmoil, lameduck coach. Freeze definitely outperformed him, most likely because he actually came to work instead of dicking off until mid-January.</p>

You DEFINITELY have to sell/play the religion card as a coach in the south if you want the 99% of the population, players, moms, dads, etc. that buy in to that to consider you, because the second any of your opposition gets wind that you MAY NOT... well that becomes major ammunition in recruiting battles.

Greg Byrne took a class so he would be able to talk to our recruits while the coaching search took place. I don't know what kind of effect that had on the class, but I liked that he felt the need to do it.

Freeze was left with a ****** situation, probably made some mistakes, and ended up with a ****** class. We were fortunate Mullen was not put in that situation, as I think it can fairly be said that Mullen took some lumps in his second and third years recruiting. Really helped us that he was able to wrap up a solid first class. Outside of OL, most positions were in a shape that a miss wouldn't kill us.

He only comes in when ole miss is mentioned, and he's never inflamatory (which is why he's not banned).

Not every non MSU poster is going to be happy-go-lucky like TUSK or Stallion. It's a guy from a rival school who is being somewhat reasonable as far as that can go. Lighten the 17 up.

you have your opinion of him, and I'll have mine. I've read the stuff he spews to his fellow bears, when he's not over here being "reasonable." So enjoy his 50 posts a day. I won't.

He'll come over here and make remarks that are decent, sometimes. However his posts about State or SPS on nafoom are borderline spirit-takes. He's a joke.
