I can't help but look at my (and everyone elses) pre-season predictions and laugh. Long, depressed, drunk season is ahead for me.

No doubt. The thing is, I'm not all that worried about the players, I'm much more worried about the coaches doing something stupid- like punting with 1:30 left in the game when we're down by four.

You would think that someone from the NFL could teach our players about clock management to. We NEVER have been good at that- except maybe 1999.

the LA Tech loss is killing us. If we lost the next 3, we could still easily make a bowl game if we were 2-0 right now. Those dumbasses who say the LA Tech game was just one game are right if you look at it as just a loss on the record.

The thing is, that loss is not just a number- it was a devastating blow to the confidence of the fan base and I would imagine the team at some level. You don't shake off a loss to a WAC team, especially one that was so pathetic. I want state to win, but your wearing blinders if you don't see the incompetence from McCorvey and Crooms.

Our season comes down to the next two weeks. Beating an unranked GT team on the road may be more likely than beating a top 10 team at home. Regardless, we have to win at least one of the two to get to 6 wins. If we don't, we'll start out 1-4, and you don't recover from that.

The key game to the season is next week vs. GA Tech. We could very well lose to Auburn and still be 4-4 after the first 8 games if we can beat GA Tech the next week. That's a much more winnable game than Auburn.

2-2 headed in to Red Stick isn't that bad.

With KY, Vandy, UPIG and Mid Tenn still on the schedule hard for me to say MSU won't win all four of those games.

You win all 4 and you go to a bowl.

A win this week gets you back on the 7-8 win line of thinking.

A loss your thinking goes into "Just get to six wins"

1-4 with two weeks to just get pissed while Vandy could be 3-2 or 4-1 (Dear god they better not be 4-1) would be bad.

Either way if Georgia tech beats virginia tech they will definitely jump in the polls. So then your looking at a top 10 team at and a top 25 team on the road. We have to win now or we wont win next week.

have a good chance, but that is probably the best we can hope for. That is a possibility whether we beat Auburn or not. If we had beaten La Tech, SELA, Vandy and MTSU then lost to Auburn, Ga Tech, LSU, and UT what would be the difference? We would still be 4-4. I agree La Tech hurt - but I wont say we are done unless we lose the next 2.

stay close then the season is not over, at least we would be competitive...maybe a spoiler, not likely a bowl,
but a 42-7 drubbing... shred the tickets and say wait till next year.

Losing tomorrow is expected. If anyone is depending on an Auburn win to stay on the bus, they should've gotten off when it got back from Ruston.

you nailed it. we can lose this one and still swing back into form if we win in Hotlanta. This would help ALOT... but it's not the end-all.

for worst coach is wins and losses. So yes, he would be the worst considering the expectations.

but I also didn't expect a loss to LA Tech. That's what makes the game so vital tomorrow. I think if we lose tomorrow, the season is done.

was easily one of worst ways he could kick the fans in the nuts. That sneaky bastard. We need this win right now more than anything if they want to keep the support. Xenomorph you say we should have gave up in Ruston but i'm not going to pass up the home opener and the SEC opener. But later in the season maybe yes.

A win tomorrow will make me feel a little better about LaTech. A loss means we have just dug ourselves a really big hole for the season. I do not see how we turn it around after a home loss.

and that will be it for that game. After that, that will be it for the remainder of the year. He'll have next year to try and do something, but he won't and then the damn social experiment will finally be over.

.....we lose to Auburn, but I lean towards 2-6. That is assuming we beat MTSU. Either way I think we'll end up with a bad/losing season.

Now if we beat Auburn, it changes the entire complexion of the season. It's the kind of early season game that instills the confidence level required for a team like ours to go on to have a successful season, especially when you're trying to shake an early season disaster like La. Tech. The Auburn win in 2007 served the same purpose. Sadly, this year I believe it'll serve the opposite effect for us.

Where do some of you come up with this stupid ****? They will knock two of our players out early on? You act like we are running a juco team out there. Most of these guys played with the SEC last year and seemed to make it out ok

.....for a winning season/bowl game would be to win every non-conference game except for maybe Ga. Tech. I assumed a loss to Auburn. That's why this Auburn game now means the season for us. We're about to go on a tough road stretch and if we lose to Auburn we'll lilely come back to Starkville a battered, bruised, and completely beaten football team.

That La. Tech game DID mean a lot, a heck of a lot, and it's intolerable and inexcusable to be losing that kind of game at this point in Croom's tenure. He can mostly make up for it if he still gets this team bowl eligible at the end of the season, but even then there's going to be a little bit of a voice in our heads that angers us because of the wasted potential for an even better season if we hadn't lost to La. Tech. I personally wouldn't hold onto to it though, becaue another bowl eligible season is still progress.

and we'll compare notes. In addition to our not being physically on the same level with them on either side of the football, our coaching staff is not smart enough to come up with any kind of equalizer.

This is Croom's head coaching career tomorrow. If we lose, not only is this season done, he's firmly back on the hot seat and a lame duck next season. If we win, he can get a few people back on the wagon and with 6-6 plus a bowl, have some momentum heading into next season.
