Man, those were fun times! Would love to get back there and I think that is going to be what it takes to renew my interest in college football. I’ll continue to keep up with State games, but with low expectations.

I will also NEVER forget the highlight video of that LSU game that is set to Creed's "Can you take me Higher". LOL. If I had more time I would find it and include it in this post. It's a masterpiece.

TOUCHDOWN!!!

One of the things that kept going through my mind during that stretch was how much I wished my deceased FIL and many many other long suffering, super faithful Bulldog fans from our past could have been there . I would bet most of you had someone you wished the same for .

Walking down the ramps after the Auburn win, I was walking out next to an Auburn mom and daughter...I offered to buy the mom's pompom off of her as a memento. She adamantly refused to sell it to me, so as we walked down the crowded ramp, I took it out of her purse and continue to laugh to this day thinking she could've made some really easy money, because in that moment I would have gladly paid a premium.

Two injuries cost us a national title. 1) the major one to Lewis. He was a speed merchant that could have made a difference against Bama and UM. 2) the minor one to Dak. He wasn't quite the same player down the stretch. He was just a 1/4 step slower and a tad less powerful.

I never saw it confirmed, but always wondered if it was that damn hit he took to the knee on his TD run against UK. It looked awful, even though he kept playing.

‘96 run to the Final 4
‘21 CWS
‘14 run to #1 in CFP rankings

Those are three times that I wish every dawg could’ve experienced

I'd add the 1999 season. With all the miracle finishes week to week up to 8-0, beating UM in epic fashion, and then whooping Clemson in the Peach Bowl when that stadium was about 90% orange, that season was just magical.

That season should have never ended the way it did.
I was extremely deflated after the 14 Bama game. But it should have been expected ...

81,94, 99, 2012, 2014 all ended at the hands of Bama. I remember well the SECCG game insert in the 1994 Bama Gameday program. Another kick in the nuts game.

We were she’ll shocked at the beginning of that game. Couldn’t recover from the bad start

Mullen didn't choke at the end of that 2014 season. He quit. Maybe he knew we weren't quite as good once Dak got injured.

And I'll admit I'm old and ornery, but those three mid-season games against teams that turned out to be grossly overrated can't hold a candle to the last five regular season games of 1980.

34 Miami 31
24 Auburn 21
6 Bama 3
55 LSU 31
19 OM 14

good times.

Mullen made some great quotes but probably one of his best was at the end of the TX A&M video: " Believe in the program and the wins will come". Too bad we can't embrace that concept now or are we to deep in the pit? One thing winning does is pack DWS as shown on the video and they weren't opponent fans either.

I know it's coach speak, but the "dominate every single snap" feels like a mindset we just don't have now. Seems like we settled into a pattern these past couple of years where nearly every offensive possession started out with either negative yardage, a procedural flag or no gain on the play. There's nothing "dominant" about that.
No idea what these coaches are telling these kids now, and maybe in the NIL/transfer world there's little they can.

Personally, I think if it's going to be a NIL paid job, then these players only get paid if they do their job. Miss tackles, drop balls, stupid penalties... lose money. Lose the game... docked pay. And it needs to be that way for all programs across the board. Pay to play means you gotta play for the pay.
