That might be the most representative pic of marble mouth I've ever seen.
I liked him for about 5 minutes during Popes first season, and the Field of 68 late night stuff can be fun after a big win, but I’m firmly back in the “can’t stand the guy” camp with Goodman.

Every time his dorky *** says something like “he’s a real m effer” to try to sound cool and edgy, I cringe so hard it hurts. Dude is a total try-hard geek.

How did providence do last year? Has he been there a while? I honestly have no clue.
If you watched college basketball at all last year, they had the number 1 portal class, number 1 high school class, and they won the national championship. This will be year 26 for him at providence as head coach, spending the previous 12 years as an assistant/graduate assistant, and he played there for 4 years before that. They won 4 ncaa championships with him as there starting PG.

Recruited well, but that Providence roster just makes zero sense to me. They added 2 true PG’s and then Dink Pate who was showcased as a PG, then Vanterpool and Miles Byrd, Byrd hasn’t improved offensively year to year, great defender but you kinda know what you’re getting from him. Probably not getting a full picture of it and he’s shown he’s a good coach (better than I could ever do) so I’m sure he’ll make it work.

Is the first year for their head coach? I don’t know why you’re bagging on his decision to go and and get some guys right away. I mean it’s a very intelligent call and Hill probably have a tournament team because of it and I don’t mean tournament team of the 76 I mean he would’ve gotten in in the normal season with the type of team he’s put together.. so bagging on him stupid. Pope was asleep at the wheel put all his eggs into one basket with a guy that was trolling him for a couple months. I mean, pope wasted all of that time he could’ve signed a couple of stud guys out of the portal because he thought he had a chance at a guy who had committed to another blue blood… I mean, let that crap sink in people. This deal with Pope this off-season and the way that he handled Stokes is worse far worse than the shadon sharpe debacle. I mean Pope just doesn’t know what he’s doing and he may know a little bit, but he’s freaking using university of Kentucky as a basketball laboratory. Number one he’s learning on the job and number two. He’s experimenting. He’s not putting together teams that will win. It’s all about Mark Pope right now he’s he’s trying to build his own confidence. He probably destroyed his opportunity for a fourth season. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose early. I wouldn’t be surprised if popes let go midseason with the new athletic Director.. and a lot of Kentucky fans are sick of Pope. I know 2 major donors who are pulling for a mediocre to bad season. They’re finished with Pope. Stokes was the final straw.

Why are we even thinking about Providence? It’s because of pate? I don’t know if people can comprehend this, but guards can typically play, especially if they’re listed as a point guard they can generally play the one two and the three. I mean, having three guys that can handle the ball like a point guard that’s a team that can move. It’s a team that can wear. It’s an opponent down it’s a team. That’s hard to guard. I mean three point guards which you call point guards. That’s a dream especially if they’re all high-level players to elite players. And then I don’t know what these guys shoot what shooting percentage but if they’re all 35% or better three-point shooters well if you have a decent coach, you can have a great team like that. And in general point guards make great defenders. I’ve been looking at Providence and they’re an interesting team with a new coach. Some people just can’t get over losing deep paint thank G-d he didn’t come to UK.

I don’t see how we can all say Pope has to get Stokes or else, and then when he fails to land him we say why did Pope waste all that time recruiting Stokes?

His wife is Mid, but I guess for him she’s pretty good. I like him though. Providence has money and they were willing to spend which is important. Big East doesn’t have to spend on football so they can actually overachieve when it comes to spending

Alex Wilkins, zoom diallo, Mason Williams, and Jerone Norton are all showcased as PG too.

I’m not bagging on him. I’m bagging on the guy who could have taken 3 seconds to get a correct and accurate answer from google. If people don’t want to google and find simple answers, I’ll make up asinine answers and they can choose to believe them or not. I don’t care.

I will be interested to see how Pate does. I had no idea what to make of that kid.

He'll look good at Providence and the Pope people will blame the incoming 17+ loss season on Hart's departure and claim Pope would've went to FF if only Hart stayed and landed him. Year 4 is a must, would just be wrong to fire a guy after such bad luck -- who would want to coach here if we disrespected Pope so badly?

The track record so far for G League guys that have come back has been less than inspiring. My thought is this: if he was that good to get paid all that money and has been developed in the Knicks g league affiliate, then he would’ve been called up, the goal isn’t to be a good college player, it’s to be a pro. Plain and simple, no NBA team saw him to be that thus far, otherwise he’d be on an NBA roster rather than going back to play in the Big East.

I agree, just saying we needed a solid college player. I wonder if he will translate to the college game even. His numbers were ok but his shooting splits were pretty bad for a SG. The G league defense looked even more porous than the regular season NBA as well. Most of that is due to how great offensive players are now, and how the rules benefit them but still.

Lol, yeah they didn’t have many chances to land anyone! Heck Hart still didn’t land him at SMU.
