I'd suggest confidently that he was given the green light to be more aggresive against K-State given their struggles.

I remember when jobea01 claimed to have info regarding Sam Keller, the Nebraska QB, because he played golf with Sam's dad. Sam's dad showed up on this board and ripped poor jobea01 to shreds over his dishonesty. jobea01 disappeared after that fiasco. That was damn funny.

Yeah, I new you were a Catoosan. I tried to figure out who you were along time ago. I know or at least knew of many Catoosa wrestlers in my younger days. I'm not taking sides on this. We had some great State Champions years ago.

The Cassillas family told my mom when I was a kid they had some of the better junior programs in the area.

That guy was a piece of work. All my state and national championships were with ETC. I wasn't ever a Jerry Goss fan. I even heard he ended up in jail over assaulting a female masseur or something along those lines.

Wish I could say I could take ya fishing, but I don't know the first thing about south east Texas fishin. I do have a buddy that has a house on Tiki Island that we go to every couple months or so and we just fish off the back of his boat dock. Big *** drums and reds like to gather around the dock light that's in the water for some reason.

Haha, yeah, Phil used to torture me with burgers when he had his place right next to Lil Abners because I'd be trying to watch my weight for weigh in. His older brother is actually a member at my club now. I'm quite a bit younger than they are, I'm 37.

Goss was a good coach and a great wrestler, but he was a psychopath. I lost to a kid named Justin Breeden at the Union Classic my sophomore year in overtime 5-3. When I walked off the mat, in front of everyone, he slapped the hell out of me and called me a lady's genitalia. Needless to say, after that my parents wouldn't let me wrestle for him anymore. Goss, as a wrestler, actually took John Smith to something like a 9-5 decision in the Olympic trials for the Olympics that John win his first gold.

Here's a funny story of the early days of Catoosa wrestling. The program started in 1970, the year I graduated. We formed a team and went to Bixby, a powerhouse at that time, for a scrimmage, for lack of a better word. Our coach was Coach Shell, the meanest Catoosa football coach in our history.

Catoosa team had no idea what we were doing. Wrestling to us was whip the guy you were matched up against. Take no prisoners. After a couple of matches, one of our team put a strangle hold on a Bixby player. The Bixby coach started yelling and told Coach Shell we were not ready to wrestle and to learn the rules. Shell told us on the bus we whipped their butt and he expected to see it on the football field next year.

Well, Shell got fired soon after and Catoosa hired a real wrestling coach. At one time we challenged the great Perry program. Many years ago........

BTW, Phil has a restaurant in Catoosa today.

I normally stay with a buddy in Verdigris when I go back to town, but I don't get around in Catoosa much.
