What is the point of rankings? How can a team as bad as Southern Miss be ranked #20 in the country? The problem is that the media can't evaluate talent and simply looks at records to determine rankings. What a dumb system. Can you imagine the awful TV ratings and attendance if Southern Miss actually made a BCS bowl? What kind of joke is this system? Southern Miss' talent level is on par of Vandy and Kentucky at best. </p>

yep you said it. USM fan #7 here again. we SUCK. I mean really. this UAB team lost by 39 points to TULANE which is their only conference win. And fedora decides to not have the boys ready. But really... why is any team given a ranking at the beginning of the season? isn't that all media and coach perception? There shouldnt be any rankings until after the 5th week. I digress - as a hardcore USM fan and i can say that i am probably one of the most pissed fans out of the 10, or maybe 11. I bet Mullen is licking his chops for the Liberty if you go there.shotgunDawg said:

I was pulling for them until I realized a vocal if not significant number of their 10 fans as well as all 3 of their bandwagon fans thought that meant something other than being competitive with the 10th or 11th best SEC team. <div>usmsci said:

I am really considering the fact that we might we worse than ole miss. and they really suck donkey balls getting slacked my la tech..who is better than uab but still - we will beat memphis because we will be at home for our last regualr season game. then we will play houston would will ream us a new one. Houston will go to the sugar and might be able to compete who knows. then we will play you guys in memphis and somehow make it close. Fedora deserves a pay CUT for how much money he just cost the university potentially if we did win out.State82 said:

You are really not that good at all. The brick wall around Hattiesburg just makes you believe that Southern Miss (the school and football team) is awesome. Just walk around State and Ole Miss after going to Southern and you will see the difference. I went to both State and Southern at one point and there is a huge difference. It's only southern fans that never get out of Hattiesburg (most of them) that believe the lies.<div>
