"experts" when it comes to baseball than any other sport. everybody is a genius and knows just what to do to fix it. hell, everybody had that game winning hit in little league to win that game so they must know EVERYTHING about the game. dumbasses

But we are not even close to the worst season batting avg in our history. That would be a robust .215 in 1975. As of yesterday, we were at .252. The next lowest was 1974 at .239

With the pitchingperformances that we've been getting lately, we're crazy not to be scratching out a few runs to help ourselves. And as anemic as our hitting has been, surely to God, these guys can square around and bunt the ball.

We 17 up 70% of the bunts we attempt. Along with being the worst hitting team in memory, we are the worst bunting team as well.

introduced to college baseball in 1974. But not nearly as improved and refined as they were a number of years later.

You really don't have to hit a lot if the other team can't score a lot aginst you. Obviously you have little room for error as that proved out today. SEC is just bad *** in baseball and has good pitching. We will do alright in the NCAA tournament unless we go up agaisnt another SEC school.

On strike 3. Inexperience does not translate into knowing how to protect the plate and just make contact to score a run from 3rd. That's coaching. Working the count may be Cohens thing but with runners on 3rd we should be trying to put the ball in play from the first pitch

I agree hitting is terrible, but this team is a better bunting team than any Polk team ever. Not as good as the past couple of years, but it seems we've tried it more this year than ever.

read something I didn't know.I read that aluminum had two reason for its jump in popularity. 1) lower cost because of longevity (knew this) and 2) safety because of the fear of the bat breaking and peices of wood flying through the air (didn't know this). It didn't mention performance which was a surprise. Now some would like to go back to woodbecause of safety.Thought that was a little funny.

I'm not opposed togoing to wood from the age of 14 up, not because of safety but I think it would teachkids to bebetter hitters.

their situational hitting was better than ours.......Therein lies the difference between losing the series and winning......</p>

the barometer for Cohen bashers is BA, but when you point out it being better than an opponents, it changes to runs scored/team power/etc etc etc. Then when you point out us not being too far from the middle in runs scored, it reverts to BA.

Why are we trying more, bunting doesn't help. 1st and 2nd inning bunts have been a Cohen staple this season and they always backfire. If we successfully get the bunt down the next batter ALWAYS strikes out followed by the 3rd out. The other half of the time we 17 the bunt up and pop it up or miss and end up getting out anyway. This is the worst bunting team we've ever had, anyone who has watched us can attest

I really don't care what our average is and what our runs scored are ranked in the SEC. All I care about are W's and L's and right now we are getting a lot of L's because our offense is hard pressed to hit the ball. We have a pitching staff that can hold its own against any team in the nation. We just have an offense that would struggle against coach pitch. Our staff completely shut down the #5 team in the nation...held them to 2 runs/game average. For most any team that would mean we win at least 2 of 3...if not sweep. But we only average 1.33 runs/game in the series and lose 2 of 3.
