I knew Ole Miss really had not done anything in the SEC other than the 2008 season but I am really shocked at UK and South Carolina. </p>

costing them potential bowl games. One of the many good things Byrne did for us was set us up with very cushy OOC schedules for 2011-2016. Boone on the other hand has taken a page from the Templeton playbook and scheduled home-and-homes with Texas, Clemson and GA Tech.

I cannot imagine what Boone was thinking with that scheduling. I would also imagine that in the very near future, the better SEC East teams will be rotating back onto their schedule also. It is the perfect storm for about three straight 5-7 type seasons for Ole Miss.

he has been talking about Kentucky's schedule for the past 4 years as a model for what State and Ole Miss need to do.

some bowl eligible teams get left out. KY can be counted on to go at least 4-0 (2-6) most years, and might do better if the east stays in a funk with a down UT and Georgia. Our schedule gets easier, so we ought to be able to pull that off most of the time, too. The only team that I can't see getting there consistently is Vandy ( and Ole Miss, with their upcoming schedule).

tremendously. That's 4 gimmies plus Vandy. That's 5 wins a year given until Strong gets it going.

that most SEC teams, including MSU travel very well to bowls.

If you're the New Mexico Bowl, and they can't fill a slot from the WAC, they would take a SEC team in a heartbeat.

Or maybe more relevant, if C-USA can't fill their slots and you're the New Orleans Bowl. They're probably praying each year that the SEC fills its slots and C-USA doesn't and that there's a MSU or Ole Miss that they could invite.

Last year, there only 4 bowl eligibile teams that got left out and there's 1 more bowl this year plus USC's on probation. It's a question of when, not if, will there not be enough bowl eligible teams to fill the bowl spots. They're already talking about changing the rule to allow a 5-7 team to go if that happens. But whether they change the rule or not, when it does happen, I'd be willing to bet a 5-7 team goes to a bowl. They're certainly not going to just cancel a bowl game. And a 5-7 SEC team is going to be at or near the top of any bowl's list of 5-7 teams.
