I agree it was 4 or 5 years past time for Cal to leave... His last year, he had the most talented team in the country, and lost in the first round, to a team we should have beaten by 40+

Then, I tell you what. I think almost all of us were really critical about Pope and rightfully so. Do you think this is a good idea: the man looks absolutely to be destroying himself trying to get this right. I’m gonna try to support him right now as a fan. And if fans want to say I told you so about their reservations, can we at least save it a little longer? The team put in some effort tonight and we are far from perfect. I apologize I just think some fans are expecting too much out of him because its Kentucky! I like Mark Pope but I knew from the beginning its gonna be rough. This I agree with…we were the only school with 10 freshmen and could only have four players on the court at one time for a practice leading up to the season. I won’t hold the 9-16 record against the coaching staff, that was a strange year for everyone.

Why do you all act like we never had embarrassing games with Cal? Remember when we had Tyler Hero and some other future NBA guys and Lost to Duke and Zion by 30? We looked like a high school team against them. Remember when we lost to Evansville in Rupp? Or the 2 win South Carolina team in Rupp? Remember when we had John Wall and Demarcus cousins and lost to West Virginia in elite eight? That team should’ve won the championship. Remember losing to freaking Oakland in the first round? Come on people. We’ve had plenty of embarrassing losses with every coach I can remember. And I’ve been watching since Joe B. Hall.

Pope didn’t lose to Florida. He’s one of the only coaches to beat Golden last year.

Pope knew he'd be without JQ. You don't get to use that one. Pope knew what he signed up for there. He knew there was basically no chance of JQ getting on the court prior to Jan. He tried to talk Garrison into existence. Garrison is one JQ setback from being THE center and Pope knew that.
This is what I can't figure out from some in our fanbase. First 10 yrs Cal was AWESOME. First 5 yrs Cal was BEYOND AWESOME. But when it went south, it went quickly. He needed to go, for both him and the fanbase. Pope was a bad and lazy hire. If Pope had finished his playing career at UW, there's no chance he'd have gotten this job. Both of those things can be true. All we as fans can do is hope he figures it out.

Shooting the ball and defending the perimeter has been an issue against Louisville and Michigan state. We'd have lost those 2 games by 10 points or more with Cal as our coach too. The difference is with Cal , the OP would gaslight himself into thinking there is hope in march because of 2 tournaments in 2011 and 2014 over a decade ago.
It was time for Cal to go. We were right about that, Leaving was best for him too. What we need now is for Barnhart to go, then sadly Pope to go and for the next AD to grow a pair and go make sure a really good coach cant say no to us.

what are you talking about? Nobody wanted this. We're just subjects under King Barney. The fans have no voice, no say, no power whatsoever. We are nothing but serfs who are expected to pay a king's ransom for tickets and travel to go to games. I don't remember one single poster here calling for the hire of Pope. Everyone here had to go through the stages of grief to get to acceptance of Pope and a hopeful outlook but nobody WANTED this.
