Today (Wednesday) is my first day back in the office from the long weekend. We have lots of MSU fans in here and several "other school" fans. They of course as me my thoughts on the game and I told them exactly what I thought:

Croom is sorry, he will enver amount to what we want him to be. He can't even win the cupcake games. Why did he get a raise? Why did McCorvey get a raise? yada yada yada...

You should have heard responses of EVERY MSU fan in my office...

"Ahhh, just shake it off, it's only one game"

"We'll be ok, it was the first game jitters"

"We have 11 more games to play, don't be worried. Croom will get it together" (Oh will he?)

"LA Tech may in fact be better than we thought"

The first quarter of offense looked good, Carroll and Lee were just nervous"

WTF?! I am sick and tired of this acceptance of medicocrity! Why in the hell would someone accept a loss to LA Tech after an 8 win season so easily? These people must be drinking some kind of kool-aid.

  • It could possibly eliminate the good vibes for recruiting
  • we should be 2-0 going into Auburn but that won't happen thus making that game not as big as it could be
  • we somehow beat Auburn, we could possibly be ranked but we won't
  • If we go 5-7, that one game costs us 2 years of bowl games which could impact #1
It's basically a damn snowball effect and I am still pissed about it. I will go enjoy the game this weekend because I like State but I will always be playing the what-if game with every weekend if we would have beaten La Tech.

As long as we have a "good man" running the program, a small percentage of our fanbase is ok with poor results. You also have someone like me that demands excellence but realizes where we are in the food chain in the SEC, but still gets pissed if we don't win. But I never overlook or forgive a loss at that ****-tastic stadium we played at last Saturday. All of the momentum we gained in 6 years to get to that 8 win season, was sucked away in about 3 hours. We'll win this Saturday, but 1-1 going into hells row of our schedule isn't fun.

Your damn right about that. We should be sitting at 2-0 going into the Auburn game. That would AT LEAST give the boys the confidence to know that we have the opportunity to sit at 3-0 with an SEC foe under the belt.

Just direct them to sixpackapeak. They will get a dose of what they need to get back in touch with their true thoughts. They are just too scared to publicly own up to their true thoughts of this thing we call football program. They too will begin to let their sheepdom unravel and speak honestly when conversing MState football with you. Good luck.

That's what most people don't understand. This game just wasn't a L in the loss column. It has a domino affect that could really hurt State in the long run. On top of that, Ole Miss beats Memphis convincingly and Bama destroys a top 10 team on national T.V., while we look like a bunch retards on national T.V. Like DS said, there's always going to be that what if.

If you guys would stop perpetuating the myth that the WAC is a weak conference the fallout wouldn't be as bad. The truth is that there are a few other schools in the WAC who are capable of taking State down on a regular basis. At least you didn't lose to a Sunbelt school like TAMU did. Sure the SEC is a better conference overall, but the top of the WAC is better than the bottom half of the SEC.

9 teams in the WAC. You do the math and see why people are upset. You may very well finish in the top of the WAC, but until then, please STFU...

of "I am just being a fan not being weird" where you continue to post on an opponent's message board to which you have no ties beside you played them the previous week (run-on..I know).

on the phone yesterday who claims to be one helluva state supporter (engineer grad in his late twenties with no kids and tons of free time). Goes to every game.

He brought up the La Tech loss and, after expressing disappointment, said, "Well, it's just the first game. We can still win 5 or 6."

I asked him:

1. What does a loss to La Tech in the opener look like to recruits? Answer: "Hadn't thought about that."
2. What did you expect from the offense in year 5? Answer: "Well, ...."
3. Why did we give Croom a 50% raise? Answer: "I don't know, I haven't thought about it."
4. Why is McCorvey still here? Answer: "I don't know."
5. Why did Ellis Johnson leave after getting a helluva raise? Answer: "I can't answer that."
6. Is 5-7 acceptable in year 5? Answer: "I guess not when you put it that way."
7. Is Croom 'earning' $1.7 million a year? Answer: "Well, we're not paying him a comparatively outrageous salary when you look at other coaches' salaries."
8. Are you satisfied with 5-7 or 6-6 in year 5? Answer: "Hey, that's pretty good for us."

And that, my friends, is the bottom line.

The top of the WAC, which does not even include La Tech, is not better than the bottom half of the SEC. Who have you beat besides MSU (1996,2008) and ALA (1999)? Your champion last season got dominated by Georgia, who is unquestionably at the top of the SEC, but trailed to Ole Miss last season after the first quarter. Ole Miss beat LaTech 24-0 last season and finished 0-8 in the SEC.

...and in addition, it still smacks of an inferiority complex. He's trying to convince himself that La Tech is a good team, and that losing to La Tech isn't a terrible thing. Well, they're not, and it is.

I mean, I'm sure we will still help your SOS. Even going 2-10, we'd probably be one of the higher ranked teams in the WAC. But you can forget about making us feel better. Losing to LaTech is just too much to take.

when the rebel fans in my office don't even try to rub it in my face. They must think losing to LaTech is punishment enough.

when my co-workers ask me when Croom is going to get fired. They're all women, and even they see that he can't coach.

Go away...really. You are not allowed or wanted here. Go praise your team for beating the worse team in the SEC. Congrats...now 17 off

A good example of No. 1 on your list:

"I do not want to see the MSU coaches though. I will want to know how they could lose to a team like La Tech. SEC schools do not do that."

-Pernel McPhee, MSU Commit 08

That was posted on Nafoom apparently taken from a Yancy article, so consider the source. Good news for you is that you still have 11 games between now and signing day.

Shmuley...I have a question...were you talking to a 4th grader or a retard? I suggest asking someone else those questions. Those answers are more in line with "describe the basic philosophy of mathematics" or whatever.
