The only way I would say Elite 8 is if we still had Sidney just to piss everybody off. But, I voted Omaha.

the chances of our establishing a national tradition in basketball with an every third decade appearance in the sweet sixteen are basically nil. I`m just more interested in sustaining our tradition in baseball than getting a few hours of pub in basketball every twenty years before we go back to our perpetual "bubble team" status.

Otherwise your logic would dictate I choose them to make the final 8 of that **** instead of the Elite 8 of the most popular tournament of the year.

I would rather us be at NYC in the final 4 of the NIT.

Baseball is a great sport. I love the game and loved playing it. But **** there are just too many games and not enough access to the sport at the college level for fans.
It's a regional game in college. It's equal to college hockey...massive regional support and little to no national support.

gave my reason. We`re not talking about the NIT , women`s soccer or college hockey. MSU has a tradition in baseball that we can be proud of and if I had to choose between keeping it going and a once in a blue moon appearance in the elite 8 I choose keeping our baseball tradition going. That`s my choice. Now I typed this slower this time so maybe you can understand .....dumbass.

College baseball is irrelevant at the national level. It gets outdrawn on the television by both softball and women's basketball. That should tell you everything you need to know about college baseball.

I say Omaha bc I think we would have a better chance at winning the whole thing.

The question didn't state which would you sacrifice for the other. It could even be inferred in the unlikely (but possible) situation that we go to the Elite 8 and Omaha in the same year. I'd be elated if we went to both, but I'd be much more ecstatic about the Elite 8. It doesn't mean we're sacrificing tradition. I know you understand that, but i don't see how the question could have been taken as such.

as Mississippi saying they have a national tradition in football because of what they did in the 50s and 60s. The fact is we've been to1 super regional in the last decade. That's not tradition. That's "Oh yeah, I remember them. Didn't they used to be good? I wonder what happened to them." If we want some baseball tradition, we need to start building one.

Making it back to the Elite 8 is the way to start that tradition.<div>
</div><div>Anyhow, what "tradition" do we have in baseball? We haven't won **** in baseball. Where are the rings? Sure, we have some good fan support, but saying that we have tradition in baseball is like saying that Notre Dame has tradition in basketball. Or Illinois, Texas or Temple. Sure, they've won a few games in the NCAA tournament. But where are the championships?</div>

at this solely for selfish reasons and not taking into account outside publicity. If I'm simply asked which I would rather happen as a fan, to go to an elite 8 game or the CWS, I'd pick CWS.

Elite 8 is great for MSU but basketball vs. baseball isn't even a question for me.
