This OC hire makes too much sense NOT to happen

No.... Just no! If anything this illustrates just how bad our OC situation has been for decades at SC. DLo isn't a great OC.... Did he manage to turn some things around half way through the season? Sure, but it still wasn't great. And apparently it's bad again at another school .... Go find someone with a proven body of work and a "system" that kids can buy into.

That's the problem around here, we settle for decently good.... There's no reason anymore that we don't demand greatness! We have the facilities, the recruiting, and the money. We should be demanding greatness!Hmmmmmm. We did have a decently successful season last time he was here.......
Look at our recruiting rankings for the last 5 years.... Consistently top 25 recruiting classes. Or coaches salaries are in the top 20 nationally.
We find NIL $ when necessary.... Why do people keep thinking we can't afford to compete? There are plenty of other programs that spend less that are competing at a much higher level than we are.

They are not in the SEC and don't consistently tend to draw the short straw. ATM got Aub, Miss St, Fla, Ark and SC in the year they were down. Watch what happens next time we play them. They will be in the top tier. We have luck but unfortunately it is bad.
Why we recruit in the top 25 but play like we bottom 25? I have been asking that question for 50 years.
You're on the wrong forum to expect common sense. Walk out your front door, find the biggest tree and bang your head against it. You'll get the same feeling as posting in here.
We are in the lower half of SEC recruiting and NIL spending from the info. I have read. If you want greatness (Alabama. UGA, OSU to name a few), top 25 isn't going to work. I don't think there is a consistent top 10 team out there that recruits lower and spends less than us. Indiana could be the exception.
Secondly, there have been years when we weren't ranked, in which i firmly believe we would be favored against top 25 teams. Playing in the SEC is s blessing and a curse. You lose 4-5 games vs ranked teams and you are out of the top 25. Same team in a different conference, we are top 25.
It is what it is! If we want to be a top 10 team, we either need to find lightning in a bottle or out-coach opponents. SOS out-coached opponents but was also fortunate to have some very good recruiting classes. In state talent and hit rate was off the charts for several years.
I said it in another thread a while back: we are perpetually mediocre b/c we perpetually tolerate mediocrity.
To be honest, 90% of D1 football teams are mediocre or worse. Not sure the reason is, "we tolerate mediocrity". I think there's a few more factors.
