I don't think I have ever seen as stupid of coaching as I saw in the last 6 minutes. Up 4 and went into the 4 corners. STUPID coaching. What can Cal say about that?

Agreed. The 3 straight shot clock violations had to have been one of the worst offensive stretches in NCAA tournament history. Up by 4, had a chance to put extreme pressure on Wisky, and instead we play stall ball and milk the clock. Just completely fell apart.

You are right OP. That and Willie sucked tonight. Cal's stubbornness to mix up his defense cost us.

I hope Cal takes this hard and realizes it is 100% on him. He didn't allow his players to make plays and went full over coaching at the end.

they went to the basket and tried to draw fouls instead of shoot, Cal yells at them CONSTANTLY to stop trying to draw fouls and just play, and they do it anyway

Very questionable strategy, delay game, too much switching on ball screens leading to mismatches. Stopped going to Towns, he was doing good work.

3 air balled possessions in a row with 1 on 1 basketball. Timeouts...use 'em or lose 'em.

Love Cal and nobody better for Kentucky, but I agree it was a poor effort by him tonight.

He stuck with the platoon system when I felt as though tonight wasn't the night to do so and you simply cannot, cannot, have three straight shot clock violations when you have a chance to put a team away. Especially when you have three timeouts to use. He got conservative in 2012 but we had a big enough lead on Kansas and a special team so it didn't matter.

It did tonight.

Coaching? I guarantee Cal will take the blame. He doesn't owe any of us an explanation. The sun will rise tomorrow guys. I hate this loss but there is a reason it hasn't been done since 1976. Its been a grest year no matter how you choose to spin it. Loved watching these guys and can't wait to see who's up next year.

Cal does not game-plan for the other team much if you can believe what he tells the media. Barely shows the guts game film on the other team. He preaches that "if we play to our strengths, we'll be okay."
Well, tonight we didn't play to our strengths. Give Wisconsin credit.

He calls the plays, if that's what they are doing, he shouldn't call the play. Maybe he should have not killed the clock and got the ball to Towns, he was unstoppable tonight

That is what bothered me more than anything. They were air balls. "The strategy" allowed the talking heads to do what they have been waiting to do all season and that is find fault with the players. The only player that didn't show up tonight was WCS. He looked disinterested for most of the game. Even if he didn't score very much, he could have made his presence by rebounding, shot blocking and being extremely active. He didn't do any of those things.

I can't believe that Cal is saying we were not stalling the ball. I can't believe that anyone watching this game couldn't seen the difference in how we played. Slowing it down gave Wisconsin a chance to rest when they were out of gas.

Some blame can be placed on coaching. They had a 4-point lead in the most crucial moments.

But it was an odd ballgame. The calls were terribly inconsistent. Momentum had wide swings and some of that was on the officials. Terrible or quick shots were attempted by Kentucky.

The big plays that involved Lyles were emblematic. How did he not get a flagrant foul? That stopped play for a while and rested Wiscy at the very time they might have collapsed. The one that wasn't called did not stop play in the least, the non-shot cock violation. Haven't seen much of that stuff this year on the blue sideline as we've been living on the edge, as Humpty finally falls off that wall.
