But I was wrong in that thread. I had no idea they would be this bad this year, though. Nutt didn't even appear to be trying this year.

surprised me earlier in the year with some solid play but they have hit their stride with injuries and such. I also thought the O-line was overrated and that Masoli made them look better than they were, I think that has played out to some degree. Honestly, they haven't had much luck either and I hope that doesn't change over the next few weeks.

but next year when they have Jon Gruden we'd better watch out. At least that's what I've been told already this morning.

have registered had he not been the quarterback. He turned alot of negative plays into positive ones which in the stat book helps the offensive line. That was my point.

Wouldn't want this falling off the first page without some reponse from Bruiser, NOPD, jacksonreb1, and of course, Tomnolen the pompous prick.

they have mention Gruden and most believe archie and Tuberville are very close... we'll see if he is a 100%

They'll go after Jon Gruden #13 [-] Posts: 11741 02/03/11 11:29...round. We'll see if the Ole Miss fans buy it.

Actually coach was right in more than one way. While Masoli was no Tom Brady their offense wasn't the problem. They could score, but they couldn't stop anybody else from scoring more. They averaged more ppg than we did. Also their scoring defense doubled our's.

I don't think most people I read things from prior to the season expected we'd be on our way to 0-8. Even Phil Steele had us listed as one of the teams he expected to see make a turn around.

He was wrong. I was wrong. Nutt has typically been that guy that when you put his back against the wall, he conjures up a good win or two and does just enough for you to keep him around. I guess his rabbit's foot finally ran out of fur.

pulled one out of his *** yet this year. I think we are the better team buy the dynamics of the Egg Bowl are going to be interesting this year. While we certainly are enjoying your current agony we know exactly how you feel at this point all to well.

It doesn't matter how many starts your OL returns if they all suck. But he'll still rank you high. I tried to tell you guys before the season that your OL was overrated and that you'd struggle on offense. And no matter who the coach is next year, it's not going tobe any better.

We've got a line full of road grader types, 6-6 to 6-8 and 325-350, and we primarily use zone blocking in our running schemes. That makes zero sense. If you're recruiting big offensive linemen, you don't zone block. You zone block when you have small, quick linemen.

On top of that, Lee likes to have his QBs take a 3 step drop from the shotgun, which means our tackles are put on an even bigger island when trying to create a pocket.

Was our OL overrated? Sure, but the scheme has made them look even worse than they actually are.

We're just younger, which tends to balance that out a good bit.

The hope prior to the season was that being more athletic defensively might allow us to be a little bit better on that side of the ball, though we were going to be really inexperienced. I like a lot of our young talent on defense, but the youth is killing us. Last year we were experienced and unathletic. This year we're more athletic but inexperienced. We still really need whoever we hire to hit the DL recruiting a good bit, but in our back 7 I like all the young talent we have there.

"We will win between 6 and 8 games next year. All 4 non conf Vandy, UK and either ARK LSU or msu."

"The days of one team dominating the Egg Bowl for more than 2 years is
over. mullen has done a good job at getting ya'll back after the Croom
and laterjws years but Nutt hasn't forgot how to coach overnight. We
will be back to winning and I think it will be sooner rather than later."

"State fans seem to think OM all the sudden just
forgot how to play football and will never win more than 4 games again.
So I guess I can understand why you don't think we can do it."

"We always play ARK and LSU very hard and if you remember we were leading
LSU in the last min of the game last year and this year both of those
games are in Oxford. Maybe I am wrong and we lose every game but just
like ya'll improved and got better we will improve and get better. Nutt
knows he is on a short leash and losing 7 or 8 games plus the Egg Bowl
next year will make it almost impossible to keep him even with this
current class given the salery he makes. <span style="font-weight: bold;">I think he will ralley the
team and get us to a minor bowl. If not feel free to mark this post and
ridicule me for wearing red and blues glasses and not knowing what I am
talking about. But be prepared to eat crow if I am right."</span>

I didn't even bother to reply because I knew I could just buy my time. Please don't go back and pull some of mine because they are a couple of crow pies I've ordered over the years.
