This SEC rule about coaches getting ejected is a sissy rule.

Arguing calls and occasionally getting ejected is a part of baseball, just like fighting is a part of hockey. It's part of the game. Having a rule that suspends a coach for being ejected more than once in a season is purely laughable.

The SEC should be ashamed that it allowed this to get on the books.

I will say in defense of the SEC that while arguing is part of the game, there are ramifications for it. It's not unheard of for a player or manager to be suspended for a game or two in the Big Leagues. In fact, Milton Bradley is going to be suspended two games for arguing with an umpire- appeal pending of course.

I'm not aware of all the facts surrounding Bradley's latest suspension and I'm not a huge MLB guy, but don't almost all suspensions for arguing come about because said player/coach makes contact with the ump during the "disagreement?"

I think it all depends on the commissioners office, though. For example, you may not make contact with an umpire, but if you throw stuff on the field or throw you equipment down, I think stuff like that can warrant a suspension as well. They review it on a case by case scenario.

calls are questionable. As long as no contact is made and no objects are being thrown by the coach (players should not say one thing, let the coach do the talking) then there should not be any suspension. Who oversees the calls made by umpires in the SEC, is there any accountability for them doing their job right and being consistent (good or bad)? Mistakes are made all of the time, but umpires are the most notorious when it comes to strike zones big or small in close games in late innings. If a coach/player can be suspended or kicked out of a game then there should also be some type of punishment for poor officiating.
