Chairbacks for the whole stadium.... If FAU and Louisville can do it, so can we.

That's $80m worth of seats.

If you are referring to our new stadium expansion, 8000 seats don't run $80m. Gigantic HD video boards and new luxury suites do. All we would have to do is rip up the old bleachers, and install the seats. Thats probably a 10 to 15 million dollar project. Raise the ticket prices a little, and it gets paid back fairly quickly.

Bleacher seats in upper east side................

I know the guy sitting in front of me would like all chairbacks so maybe I would not be accidentally kicking him in the butt the entire game!

Most people pay extra for the cushioned chairbacks installed on their bleacher seats. I'm sure the people paying extra for those wouldn't mind the ticket price bump since it would mostly be offset by not having to pay for the cushions anymore.

It definitely needs to be part of the next phase. However, we're not dropping thousands of seats to make it happen. It will have to be part of a project that adds capacity.

I wasn't being completely serious there, but I doubt they would so something like spend $80m on additions and then effectively wipeout the amount of seats they added. No way they ever bring the # below 60,000 ever again. That's the threshold between AAC schools and respectability.

Taking out 8,000 seats = $2.4M PER YEAR in lost revenue. Long term, that is a HELLUVA lot more than $80M. Not saying I wouldn't want a chairback seat but you aren't seeing us reduce number of seats until we aren't filling the stadium. And even then, why would we spend money unless we were pulling a Kentucky where we might actually get back to filling the stadium.

My attitude would be, why should I pay for your chair back? Keep it just the way it is and rent one.

DS, you really should just put this pic in your sig at this point... Imagine the time it would save you when making fun of HD6. You could just use an arrow or something.

something like this would be sweet, but i also think we should add some chairbacks between the 30's...something like this:

if not that, we need to look into bleacher-back seats....its the best of both worlds. the back support without the loss of seating.

I don't think we need 100% chairbacks, but I definitely think we should start adding chair backs gradually if we get to where we are not selling out season tickets.

I am in favor of all chair backs in the stadium (not the student section or the upper decks). Scott's got it right, we need to keep focusing on the game experience and not increasing the number. 60K- 65K is perfect for us. When we close in the south end zone, that would be the best time to install all chairbacks on the bottom sections of the stadium . The addition of end zone seats would make up for the loss of seating by adding chairbacks.

I also think we need to take the press box area on the west side and install more suites (end zone to end zone). They will pay for themselves. Build a new press box for modern media.

The south end zone should just be lower level only. If I had a vote I would build something similar to the Left Field Lofts in the south end zone of Davis Wade and sell condos on a five-year contract. Put balconies on them where people could watch the game from their condo. It would be a first in college football. UM can have condos on the Square, we'll have condos on the field.

Ever been to Neyland Stadium? That's a 90,000 seat stadium that sells 100,000 tickets. Smallest seats allowable by law.

That stadium is horrible to watch a game in. It was like sitting on a airplane between to offense tackles. Also that song..that damn song..if someone got nachos and brought them back to their seat properly I think they played that song.
