Since Mississippi State is your regular West opponent. State is allowing the 5* DL Jeffery Simmons, the one who was on video of hitting the female multiple times with a closed fist, to enter, with conditions. Probably not surprising to anyone, but how much bad PR can one little state handle. One school has admitted to giving illegal benefits, such as money, free transportation, free lodging and food on unofficial visits, and free rental cars and 8 level 1 violations under the current coach and the other admitting a 300 lb guy who beats women.

IIRC, the AD at State is Scott Stricklin, who formerly worked in the UK AD. From what little I know about such things, Stricklin is generally well-regarded in athletic administration circles. He's taking a big chance here. God forbid Simmons hurts a female while a student at State, especially an on-campus incident. They would be looking at a slam-dunk lawsuit against them.
I'm curious to know exactly what conditions he is subject to. The Ky Kid pretty much nailed it - if he were a marginal recruit, they probably would have already released him from his LOI. Like I said, I sincerely hope no one gets hurt over this decision.

Suspended the first game against South Alabama and counseled by the university's Student Counseling Services, that is all that was released today.
The video of Stricklin's responses to the reporters grilling him is worth a watch. One reporter noted that the suspension is the same punishment that a player would get for targeting.
Perhaps, but give the guy credit for at least putting himself in front of the media about this. At uavel, Jurich certainly wouldn't bothering bringing this up for discussion, and the sycophant Louisville media wouldn't have bothered to ask about it.

I really love the purity of "college" athletics. It makes me feel good to know that Miss State and many other schools are trying so hard to help troubled youth, and all solely out of the goodness of their heart and without hope of financial reward.
Meanwhile, at UT a 5* JUCO DT arrives in Jan, is accused of sexual assault and false imprisonment in Feb...so happens he gets the top defensive atty in the Knoxville area(a UT grad don't you know), gets his charges reduced and I'm sure has already received his "punishment." I think they withheld him from their game of March 5. But they don't have a culture that tolerates sexual assault, nah...Botch Jones said so.
UL radio was chiding Mullens and said that this kid should have to sit a year and demonstrate that he is solid before playing. Meanwhile, D Fields walked right onto UL campus and joined their team after punching a girl in the face.
Per the attached, the SEC office was consulted and the MSU Prez signed off on the decision to admit Simmons. I'm no lawyer, but I see a potential for a large number of co-defendants in a future civil trial should Simmons get unhinged in an on-campus incident.

He's not a transfer. He signed an LOI in Feb and will be a FR at State this summer.
Maybe they are trying to catch up with Transfer U.
Good luck with that. The SEC turning down serious offenders would be a Godsend to them.
And the AD that said TU treats all their athletes the same as other students could cost them millions when the plantiff's attorneys bring up the EIGHT thugs that got two men down and kicked them in the head with no one even getting a parking ticket. And what happened to the fact the owner gave players free admission? And then the surveillance film was bad AFTER the OIC failed to pick it up until the next morning.
Not crazy but shows that some schools in the SEC will do whatever it takes to win. If you want to compete in the SEC you have to gamble on players and hide your cheating. The fan base at Mississippi State only sees the wins not the fallout.
Allegedly the incident involved his sister and this girl and he intervened in defense of his sister. That's what I've heard from the Mississippi State fans anyway. While that does cast a slightly different light on it, you still can't condone hitting a woman.
I could see that if he pulled her off, even held her while his sister hit her, but throwing her on the ground, standing over her and hitting her multiple times in the head and upper torso with his fist is a little overboard.
It looked to me like his sister was big enough to take care of herself. But then the sense of fair play in our society has seemed to go the way of the dodo bird, just win baby. See the eight thugs at TU.
