We beat Vandy 17-2 in one game off of their "All-American" pitcher and we outscored them 24-10 that weekend. We had our chances to make it.

What are you talking about?

I want to win a national freakin' title in something other than individual men's track events, disc golf, and eco car. Vandy just did it. I don't give a flying 17 what we did to them on a Friday night in March, I want to win a damn title. They have theirs... so does every school in the conference... BUT US.

Wish we had tried to beat Oregon state without graveman. If we had graveman game 1 our chances would've been better

I doubt it...

We really sucked offensively and UCLA was stupid efficient. We got outpitched big time.

Relax, we will be back in the Championship in due time. We'll get another shot at it. And I have a feeling that we won't let it slip away again.

It was offense that couldn't get it done in those 2 games. All I'll remember is belt high fast ball after fast ball and fly ball after fly ball.

It's crazy that a team got rewarded with a national title for serving up very hittable fastballs

They pitched us up in the zone the whole series and we never adjusted. We did exactly what they wanted us to... hack at high fastballs and pop them up.

This is another argument for another day... but Cohen's lack of hitting adjustments/philosophy really really showed in that series with UCLA. Everyone knew exactly how they were going to pitch us and we made no adjustments of any kind. We didn't sit back and shorten our swings, look to go opposite field, or anything... just the same ol' same ol'... hacked at them and popped them up.

Hope you're right. I have a feeling that we'll never get back to the championship game again....ever. That's just me though.

Corbin made it to Omaha for the first time at Vandy in his 9th season (bounced in semis), then won it all in year 12. Cohen made it to Omaha in year five (national runner up). It takes time to put together a national champion-caliber team, and the fact that Cohen made it there so quickly after having to essentially rebuild the program gives me faith that he'll guide us to the promised land. Sure, that team may be a group of midgets (aside from maybe one or two position players), but Cohen can get it done.

It's not like we lost to a team that had no business playing for a championship.

UCLA won a Super at Cal State Fullerton, who was insanely talented, and then took care of LSU and North Carolina, who were two of the Top 3 teams all season.

We had our chances in Game 1 and played terrible in Game 2, but don't act like we were the only team that those guys shut down.

We can get back to Omaha next year if someone like Hudson has a breakout season, but 2016 has the makings of an incredible season.

17 that ****...we werent good enough. nothing is owed to us, we need to get our asses in gear before the entire sec passes us by....or more accurately laps us like we are the slow retard on the track team.

the world owes us nothing. until we get our heads out of our asses and start claiming **** and putting our foot on the collective throats of the ncaa competition, we arent worthy of such titles. its about 17ing time we finally stepped up and showed that we are worth a 17 in this league and that starts with investing in facilities which we now drastically lag behind in baseball, particularly in the sec west.

and we 17ing pretend like we are some elite power in the sec baseball world? guess what...we are now 5th in the sec AT 17ing BEST!!!!...none of our palmeiros, clarks, brantleys, thigpens, papelbons, etc will save us from that fate until we commit ourselves to winning....we wont even invest in building a park that is worth that title. our problem is our dumbass fans that think we dont deserve the best while whipping our back with a cat of 9 tails as the rest of the sec passes us by in a Ferrari. we are playing checkers while the rest of the sec is trying to figure out how to become the next bobby 17ing fischer.

You are truly crazy at times. I don't understand how you can freak out as much as you do about stuff. If I knew nothing about State baseball and read your post, I would assume we had not had a winning season in years.

When Polk 2 was here, we were 9th out of 12...at best. We're 5th out of 14 in the best conference? We're moving up.

And to hell with we weren't good enough though. We beat the "hoos" at their house in straight games and cleaned up against Oregon State twice.

And he's coached two teams that were far better than the one that one last night. He had a team with David Price and Pedro Alvarez that didn't even make the super regionals. I would have been willing to say before last night Corbin was as much a choker as Bianco had been.

Or you could assume that some of our fans are just tired of seeing us lose to the Holy Cross' of the world and demand more from our coaching staff

that was last years team (obviously). this team would mop the floor with us because we have weak hitting and our pitchers were disappointing.

we have to find a way to get better and find a killer instinct.

we act like we deserve a championship. thats what pisses me off. we have done nothing deserving of a championship and nothing should be handed to us. its the mentality of our fanbase and this thread is exemplary of that.

we had our chance and failed...thus, it shouldnt have been us. its not the mindset of a competitor or champion and that is what we need to change.

reread that...its "drastically lag behind in baseball" dont make me post pics of the new alex box, blue bell park, bama's new stadium, plainsman park, baum stadium, etc...

yes, we drastically lag behind in quality compared to these stadiums. i dont think its even debatable.

We're rebuilding the stadium -- and the announcement is coming soon. Strick had initially hoped to unveil this summer.

He who laughs last laughs loudest. And we've now seen everyone else's hand...

so was stricklins apparent interview on genespage of a 5-7 year timeline a legitimate timeline? potentially waiting until 2020 just seems like we are dragging our feet...at least to me especially considering we have been working on the project already. i fully realize that there could be several motives for giving that type of timeline and not really interested in speculation of why that might be, but based on what you have heard, what is the most realistic timeline on breaking ground on the rebuild?

I keep hearing it's going to be completed for the 2017 season. That could be completely wrong but seems like a likely time frame.

I think plans will be announced before football season and fund raising specifically for the stadium will begin. I think the quicker we raise the funds, the quicker the stadium will be complete. So, in a sense it's all up to people like you and I.

i think that timeline is completely acceptable and reasonable. hopefully something will come out soon. as a fan that tries to keep up with stuff, i kinda feel left out in the lurch, so if it is truly up to the likes of us, i think they could do a much better job keeping us up-to-date...not that they are obligated to do so, but you know...it would be nice to be informed even in the slightest.

I agree completely. I'll be a little worried about that 2017 timetable if we don't hear some sort of announcement this summer.

I *want* a new stadium, too, but current DNF is plenty good enough for a NC team

The atmosphere at Dudy Noble is one of the top in the country regardless of newness of the stadium. I doubt if Plainman Park has EVER had a better atmosphere than Dudy Noble since the day PP was built. So what if A&M has a new pretty place? Is their program better than ours right now? No.

The teams are good because of the coaches, not the stadium. UCLA has fewer than 1,000 fans per game. Vandy's stadium is nothing special. South Carolina was good because of their coach, not their stadium. New USC coach = team not as good. LSU simply has a winning tradition and gets the best players from that (and accomplished more in their old ball park than have in the new Box).

We don't HAVE to have a new park to get good enough players to win a national championship. Dudy Noble is good enough to get them now.

That said, I still want a new stadium. Just because it's cool and should be better for fans. I'd love more chairbacks and to get rid of the bleachers. Move a lot dirt to make LFL bigger and a little cleaned up--maybe level concrete pads for sets of mini-stands with storage beneath or for the current homebuilt stands.

I used to want a new stadium turned so the facade was facing the parking lot, but now I don't. Now maybe turned so the grandstand/home plate is where the left field corner is now. Prevailing wind would blow out instead of LF to RF now. Area between the facade and FB practice facility could be a finished area, not in a hole like the DNF facade is now. LFL would be where center and RFL are now, RFL would be backed up to the Hump (or the driveway under the Hump). No more extra giant green fences in the lounge, either.
