Our shooting 30 threes is dependent on having space to run our cuts and motion. We did that pre-sec but once league started these more athletic teams don’t let us move free and extend the defense and we just don’t get the looks in the half court.

The fix for that is to have a couple of guys to break the defense down to create open looks but we only have two and Butler has been hurt and Owen is not a passer.
Well he better recruit SEC caliber players then or it will be much of the same. This isn’t BYU and I hope he understands this

Some of yall quit easy. Might as well not even watch the last two regular season games and both tournaments since you obviously know the outcome.

No, but the celebration of his mediocrity this season has been insane.
Kentucky has a record number of AP top 10 wins, top 15 wins or something like that and you say it has been mediocre plus the committee gave us a 3 seed just 2 weeks ago on the reveal show. Not sure you noticed but Kentucky has had the #2 SOS in the country and is playing in a historic SEC.

Celebration of mediocrity? Dude has more big wins this year than anyone outside of Auburn. When you saw Pope had about 3 to 4 weeks to throw together a team from the portal with a bunch of leftovers what did you think our record would be? Then factor in all the injuries and we are still a top 20 team. Probably a 4 or 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. If you expected more than that before the season you are a moron and deserve to wallow in your misery. But I doubt you expected more and probably have just been waiting in the winds to hop on any chance possible to tear Pope down. Good for you dingleberry

You can't allow 40+ per half against everyone and not being able to score.

Pope said he would shoot 30+ threes a night. They have shot eight. I've seen more missed layups and tough two point shots.

It's just BAD offense for a team that only had offense going for them.

Maybe their bracket can avoid every top 25 offensive team. That's probably the only shot.

To be honest, this team isn't as good as Cal's last THREE teams. They have better wins. But the end result may not be much different.

This is going to be a HUGE off-season for Pope.
depends on how you rate “good” as a team. in terms of potential, yeah he had better teams. in terms of playing to potential, and AS a team, this team surpasses them easily. if the results are the same, given the talent discrepancy, i’d say there’s no comparison. we are way undermanned with players playing hurt.

but if this team doesn't win any tournament games same results

Some of you realize this is the #1 team in the country right? If we lose first round like we have recently then yeah some of these comments are warranted. But not now.
This ^^ This Auburn team is really good and has a good chance to win it all this year. We just played very bad today (turnovers killed us ) . I know it is hard to lose but I did not think we could beat this team today with our best shooter out hurt. Just get ready for the next game.

A few things..
1, We didn't put a good product on the floor today..no question
2,Auburn is elite
3,Only blue tinted glasses would expect this team to predictably beat the best team in several years, at least
4,This team has far exceeded most people's pre season expectations
5,The future is much brighter than today. I love what this team has done. If you thought we'd be fine with a team put together in weeks that has fought injuries all season long, you simply aren't a realist.
6,We're not done winning games! The sky is NOT falling and Pope has done an unreal coaching job. Stop with the Pope crap! It just makes ya look..."uninformed"

That’s because some people are overreacting. Others were wanting this to say “told ya so”. Best feeling in the world for some people.

The offensive efficiency has slipped big time the last month. They are playing slower and playing worse. The three point shot can make up for a lot of this, but they aren't shooting enough of them.
Our offensive execution and efficiency has been affected by playing against tougher SEC competition, especially on the road.
Defenses are simply more athletic and aggressive. Plus, the injuries.

Pearl designed his defense to take away the 3.

He was willing to give up 2’s. He even told his team that UK wouldn’t beat them shooting 2’s.

He didn’t even guard Williams.

They wanted him to pass to drivers.

And we kept trying to do just that.

And had some success against it. Only to miss the layup.

Make a few of those and maybe Pearl changes his plan?

We never countered their plan.

We made the game easy for Auburn.

Turnover after turnover didn’t help.

Agree, but the alternative is COACHING. It's not take 15-foot jumpers with 5 on the shot clock, let Amari take mid-range one-handed floaters or Brea going on on one, shooting 15 footers.

How do you think inferior teams pull upsets in March? They don't just accept that they can't get threes off.
Agree but my point was his coaching options are limited because the number one antedote is spreading the floor and breaking people down which we cant really do. What Pope has tried to on occasion when taken out of our offense is go high low with Williams and Carr but I dont think he's done enough of that IMO in those situations. I also think even though Kobe and Jaxson and others arent necessarily built to break people down, they could have been pushed to try it more instead of getting stuck 30 feet form the basket dribblin in one spot.

But no question if we're stuck taking hard twos late in the clock there has to be some other answer.
