I'm recording the game but figured screw it so I'm streaming at work. Looks like a 2-hour lunch for me. Very nice goal. Good pass by O'Reilley and a great touch by Cheney to get it in the goal. Cheney's gone from being a promising young player to one of the biggest stars on the team in 5 games.
But looking at the game on ESPN Gamecast, it appears France is being far more aggressive than USA.
Header in the 79th minute to take the 2-1 lead. She jumped head and shoulders above everyone else. Fantastic goal.
France coach made a huge mistake. They were dominating and he took out a defensive midfielder and put in another forward. The announcers were saying the new sub would really stretch the USA with her speed, but I was thinking their defense was kind of shaky to begin with andthey just took out one oftheir key defensive players. Then the floodgates opened. Not saying we couldn't have won anyway, but I think their coach panicked a little.
All of Sundhage's subs were great moves. Of course, a few of them were just getting her to the lineup she should be starting to begin with. Rodriguez is fast, but that's all she brings to the table. Got to move Cheney to forward, which is her natural position, and bring Rapinoe into the midfield. Keep Morgan as a 2nd half sub and keep Rodriguez the hell out of there.
