Yeah I'm sure we will win the off-season National Championship for the 20th year in a row.
Evidently Vegas doesn’t think so. Putting in some actual development work instead of hype is the best thing to happen to a Nebraska football team in a while. Looks like the defense will be more sound and physical at the point of attack this year. Will it equate to more wins??
There just wasn’t a difference maker on D last year. They’re trying to develop and work towards that in a matter of months. I have my doubts as well, but can’t fault these coaches on D. These guys look like the real deal again.

It all sounds great, but so did last year's coaches. I am now firmly in the camp that I will be impressed when I see wins. The wins will flow from this team being dominant in the trenches.
I agree. I can't buy into anything right now because (1) good plays in practice are against our own guys and I don't think that proves a thing and (2) the people doing the reporting are biased and unreliable. I will be supportive, but I'm not buying into anything until I see the product on the field.

That said, there's a difference between all coaches-- coaching better techniques? Maybe. But the real thing is the buy in, the discipline, and most importantly following through all season long. Only 15% of the players out there can be trusted to play with great technique all season long. Most have to have it drilled into them. That's the difference between Iowa kicking our asses with pretty good HS recruits and us getting our *** kicked with slightly better HS recruits.

At this point, I'm not sure that I care. The culture surrounding the program is so messed up. Fear of failure? Must win desperation? Culture of entitlement? Whatever it is, this program is entirely outcome based. And it shows in the yearly results.

Assuming the right coaches are in place, how about just coaching the kids in fundamentals all season long? Play super physical football. Be disciplined. Fly to the football. Play to the whistle. If we did all of that to the degree that everyone notices it, then I would be happy even going 6-6 or 7-5. Because that would be real progress.

(Note- that's not the New Nebraska way though so the knuckleheads would fire the staff and hire a hot name, you know someone who comes on those Google lists, for some more rebuilding years)

I agree with the apathy setting in Nuts. I go to at least a game or two every year. I don’t even want to go to a 50/50 cointoss type conference game at this point because they’ve just been shitting themselves at every opportunity in those games. This team failing to compete in big games is maddening. Who cares if we beat Maryland or Northwestern? The culture surrounding the program...It’s a high profile program because the fans have been propping up a subpar product since Bo left. It’s all of those things you mentioned because the program hasn’t been fulfilling its part of the deal.

The hype train just isnt hitting me this year.

And I've fallen for it all since the turn of the century. Harrison Beck. Sam Keller. Cody Green. Tanner Lee. Dylan Raiola (I dont know why I'm just picking on QBs). Every time come seasons start - I was sure we were at least going to contend for the division.

Maybe fall camp will get me invested. But Ive just never been more apathetic than I am currently.

I too just cannot get excited this year. Is a combination of things, but my single largest reason is the fact that we have mercenaries, not dedicated players.

I am old, and change is had to accept, but I am having a hard time accepting this.

Last year was like Mike Riley's 2nd year.

I fear this year will be like Mike Riley's 3rd year.
It is all so similar!

Remember with Riley it was all...
Just wait until you see what he can do with the support at NU
Just wait until you see what he can do with a real weight room and resources

Blah blah blah...

.500 coaches are .500 coaches.

I'm mixed.

I have faith (at least some hope?) in Aurich and Geep, not in the hat guy. I think these guys will improve their areas so I enjoyed watching the video. But dang, I will admit I am overly-sensitive to this - I wish they'd just get rid of the dramatic music.

No hype. Just give me the raw tape of these coaches. JMPO. Shrug, not a big deal either way.

It was funny to me when Aurich tried acting like he knew something about Nebraska boys.

"Classic Millard guy" after he first asked if Pierce was from Elkorn. Haha.

These guys seem like a breath of fresh air. Younger guys able to connect a little better. NFL is heavily trending to younger coaches. I’m Gen X and having to work with Gen Z like that would be ugly. I’m the first to tell you that. Granted I don’t know if that means much at this point. Hell I don’t know if Coach Rob and Yelk can even do anything to stop the bleeding at this point, but it is nice to see something fresh.

we need guys like this for the team if it gets really bad this year

Not sure what I was supposed to see in that video, but that wasn’t it.

That wasn’t any different or more than anything any good high school DC does daily.

This is such a real thing IMO. Our fan base built an identity, for better or worse, on supporting our team and players with loyalty. We rewarded players and coaches who wanted to come to Nebraska with that loyalty. Followed them through injury and redshirt and spring games.....

Now college football is just emotionless business transactions season after season. Recruiting barely matters. Not in the sense that you dont need good players, but will they finish their careers here? You can basically tune in for the portal open. Close. And the games.

Sadly, it doesn't matter if it is Nebraska, Minnesota, Michigan or Ohio St. Loyalty is gone, following players through injury, and redshirting etc. is long gone. Unless you want to follow juniors and seniors who have transferred in.
