I must have missed where Cohen talked about the pitchers for this weekend...did someone say Woodruff was in the weekend rotation? If so, do we know the entire weekend starting rotation yet? Also, any word on whether Renfroe will return tomorrow night? Rea? I'm expecting them both to sit out again, but I really hope Rea can return before SEC play so he can get some quality at bats in. I'd like to see him get some confidence built up and the rust off before SEC play begins.

thanks.

Woodruff just started Wednesday- no way in hell he is going to be in the weekend rotation
Renfroe can play if he absolutely has to- but he doesnt want to play him in the cold if he can avoid it
Rea is the healthiest of the bunch- but wants to take it slow with him and not rush it so he will be ready to go for LSU

I figured it was too soon for Woody, but I read that in another thread. I was surprised, but thought maybe since he didn't throw but a few innings, it was kind of like a bullpen session. I'm actually kind of glad he's not, unless it was Sunday at the earliest.

I wish we would have scheduled USM for next Tuesday instead of the week before LSU. It would line up perfectly to have Woodruff make one more midweek start, but oh well. I think his next start is next weekend.

Cohen talked about wanting him to work his way to a weekend start- but he is just behind the rest of the guys because of his elbow. Cohen and everybody else knows he is potentially our best- but fortunately for us, we have some other really good pitching to allow him to work his way back

Yea me and a buddy of mine were talking about our pitching depth and we started listing the guys we would have in relief if Woodruff, Lindgren, and Graveman were the weekend starters during SEC play. Think about that, you damn near can't do it without leaving someone good out by accident...

Evan Mitchell
Will Cox
Ross Mitchell
Trevor Fitts
Luis Pollorena
Ben Bracewell
Chad Girodo
Jonathan Holder
CT Bradford
John Marc Shelly
Preston Brown
Myles Gentry
and even Norris and Renfroe if ever needed

You start Pollorena against USM 10 times out of 10. He owns them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pollorena starts against USM.

We're going to have to work Woodruff in at some point. Basically, this last start was about the equivalent of his second spring practice start- I think each of the starters got at least three or four of those in- Woodruff only got one in. We might just let him be the midweek guy until after the Governor's Cup because the week after that game, we have a Thursday game against Auburn and no midweek game, so assuming we do that, he would be on eight days rest, which is about normal for a college starting pitcher. It makes sense from the "not rushing him" standpoint because we would start him against some teams like Valley and Alcorn, but at the same time- he would get to face a few quality teams as well such as Austin Peay and South Alabama in Mobile and then some good teams like USM and Ole Miss in Pearl.
