this week's directv/dish network question

I saw someone posted a while back about this but I wasn't able to find the post using the search...

I have Dish Network and am looking to add ONLY ESPNU (and maybe a CBS sports channel if need be) for the SEC football games that will be televised this fall. I thought I saw someone saying that they were able to add the channels without upgrading to the next package, but the guy I was talking to from Bungalapoor today said that wasn't possible. Any help/advice on this from other Dish Network customers?

I got ESPNU for $3.00 more a month.

What package do you have that cost $3.00 for ESPNU? ESPNU is included in the Choice, Choice Extra and Premier programming package.

that was no longer offered. I was in between Choice and Choice plus. Could go down and lose some channels for pay $3 more and get 16 more channels including ESPNU. I also called and had to speak to someone that was clearly clueless as to what I wanted to do. I hung up called back and got some hyper nerd that knew everything about everything that is Directv. It just the luck of the draw.

that you don't HAVE to choose a package with the channel in it right? DirecTV does al la carte. There is always the add on Sports Pack that is like $12 a month too.
