to talk football, football expansion and maybe a little baseball expansion.

We also discussed our own thoughts on the baseball expansion, did our MSU predictions, and a one or two other topics.

Comparing the DNF renderings to Major league parks, I think HD6 has a point about Wrigley. I've been to both Wrigley and Fenway. They are both old have have a certain mystique. Fenway has been updated nicely and blends the old with the new in an excellent way, but Wrigley is a dump. There are some nice features with the ivy and rooftops, but the stadium experience is bad.

One thing that definitely came out of the interview - it was the first time that Stricklin has publicly admitted that the football stadium will not be 100% complete August 30th.

It's hard to top iconic in my opinion with something new.

It is, but you have to ask what, specifically, makes something iconic. At Wrigley, it's all essentially things you see from your undersized seat. Everything else is like an old warehouse. That's not to say they can't bring it up to date and still preserve the history.

Many historic places are nice to visit once, but then you have to ask, "Would I want to come here on a regular basis?" At the end of the day, are you willing to stand in line to piss in a galvaized trough in order to keep the history?

I think there is

a certain number of people that do appreciate and value nostalgia over "newness." I'm not referencing the head, either.

I think a great

deal of sarcasm has come from those freaking out about it being finished in time. However, most of that sarcasm came from those in the construction business that knew that a projuct such as this is never 100% finished on time. However, we were always poking fun of those that seemed to allude to it not being usuable by the first game (to an extent, freaking out).
