but I don't care. I hardly ever get political, but it appears (I use the word appear, because one never knows.) that the Democrats are being jerks. I hope people see the truth during this time of crisis and vote every single low life politician out of office, Republican or Democrat.

They have all gotten so rich being in office with their shady *** dealings it wouldn’t hurt any of them. True evil when one is called to serve and they work solely in their own interests.

It shouldn't get locked. They will come to some agreement probably by the end of the day.

McConnell's package is a plethora of corporate giveaways and a chance for Goldman Sachs to tighten its grip on the financial industry. Looks bad on the surface to Dems, but there will need to be a host of private protection and incentives for the biggest corporations that we've already deemed to big to fail. If they do fail, lots of folks will be 17'd in a way that will set most all of us back.

However, you don't want to give away the farm and allow those guys to throw money down a rat hole again and put us right back where we are now. There should be some restrictions on buy backs which is what they will use initially to bolster the market. The market has obviously been inflated. The C-19 numbers at this point are nowhere near enough to tank it 33%, but it already has and when the big death numbers roll in we're likely all 17d.

The Dems are right to try to bolster workers and low income folks. We're gonna need them spending money and feeling confident or.... you know, we're likely all 17'd.

This is failure of epic portions on so many levels, but we can get out of this with a little clear thinking and compromises.

I blame both parties - Ronald Reagan & Tip O'Neill would have presented a compromise bill middle of last week and dared anyone in either house of congress to vote against. These muther-17ers we have in Washington now are too busy taking a litmus test in front of the cameras daily to get anything productive accomplished. FAHR all of em from AOC & her gang to Trump & McConnell!

IF that's what the dem's wanted, it was a massive political 17up to even try to put things like solar tax credits, emissions targets, and union related provisions in the bill.

There are always two perspectives. The Republicans aren’t negotiating. They are demanding to be handed the piles of cash they want without restrictions, accountability, and provisions protecting individuals. Mitch is sitting on a graveyard of legislation he wouldn’t even let come to a vote in a Senate where he controls the majority and now pitches a fit when his bill doesn’t get a rubber stamp.

I agree there are a ton of people on both sides of the aisle that need to go home this fall.

SOP for dividing up a huge amount of other people's money

Dems: trying to line up the best possible outcome for their base and re-election chances

Repubs: trying to line up the best possible outcome for their base and re-election chances

One could even argue that it is a fine functioning representative republic. To date, the best form of government that the world has figured out; warts and all. Perhaps we aren't as smart as we think we are. I'm most likely on the paying end of this deal and not the receiving one, so I hope that among all the political posturing they actually figure out a way to help the people who need it the most.

You said it well. The only differences between the dems repubs is what self serving interest they want to waste our money on. Still, it is the best government in the world right now, but we’re working hard to become like the rest.
Govt’s monkeying with the markets and devaluing their currency through inflation always ends well**

I'm not sure if his post is accurate or not, but the last paragraph sure is. Who really cares about emissions and solar panels now?

Just last week on one of the earlier relief packages, Schumer got on camera and basically demanded republicans pass it as written. McConnell agreed. Now that it is a republican based bill Schumer et al tring to add in all kinds of crap that has nothing to do with CV relief. They should pass it as written as he himself demanded last week.

The past two days have been sad following the stuff going on in capital hill. I watched the whole senate meeting today on CSpan for the first time in my entire life and it’s crazy how vindictive and gutless people in congress are. People are hurting and they seem to only care about political gains and wins.

Just like Harry Reid sat on a pile of bills that the GOP house passed under John Boehner. No party has the monopoly on sitting on their asses.

You think it's s good idea to hide what companies get Federal bailout money? Or let them take the money and still lay off workers?

Or to ignore the workers? Or States? Or Cities? Or Small businesses?

Yo, preacher, keep in mind:
1)I think this legislation is typical partisan, ********, can-kicking, voo-doo economic self-enriching politics veiled as a pro-American stimulus package
2)Watch your tone, since these lawmakers may decide to re-think your advantageous us 501(c)3 status to help pay for this ****, and-
3)If you're a Calvanist, why worry, since we're all powerless to this destiny anyway?

Do you think it is a good idea to tie BS such as climate change and favors to unions in a relief package?

You see any sports anywhere?

Actually, yes. Yesterday ESPN2 ran as ESPN 8 The Ocho. They aired things like "World Electrician Championships", "Death Diving Championships" "Dodge Juggle 3"

I watched some of Dodge juggle 3. There were 2 teams. One would juggle 5 bowling pins in the back and there were 4 other people. The other people would run to the middle to get balls and they had to throw it at the juggler to make him miss a pin. They couldn't hit him in the face though. Each team usually had 2 people back as defenders.

The names they had for their teams were hilarious. One was "Bicurious codes" and another was "Four kids and a fat guy". The fat guy trash talked by lifting his shirt when they scored a point.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was hilarious.

That being said, Democrat, Jim Clyburn kinda spilled the beans on what that gameplan is

It’s called putting in the kitchen sink so you can negotiate those out of the legislation.

Each party has their kitchen sinks— now they need to choose what fits best.

aGAIN....this is not "bailout" money in the sense you and so many left leaning pearl clutchers are using the term. Corporations, such as airline carriers, are in dire straights right now, not due to their mismanagement, but due to policies this country has enacted to stop this virus. It stands to reason that the government bears a responsibility to help the companies that it affected. Smaller companies who have shut down will get funding so that they can continue to meet payroll and not have to lay off workers. Democrats cry about protecting the worker but they don't realize who hires and pays the worker. That said, this bill also puts cash in the hands of most Americans as well.

I don't like everything about it, but these are unusual times. When the house pushed their ******** through last week, McConnell didn't play politics in the senate. He told republicans to "gulp hard and vote yes."

Democrats are committing political suicide today and when republicans win the house, expand in the senate, and Trump is reelected, they will spend the next two years in a circular firing squad looking for someone to blame.

and who do these "workers" work for ?

Exactly. I don’t understand the thinking that all big business is inherently bad. News flash: if a company loses a bunch of money, its employees are going to suffer for it and many people might lose their jobs.

Not saying that all corporations are inherently good, but they sure do allow a lot of people to have jobs.

Here is what Pelosi put in her POS plan

Stricter fuel efficiency for airlines.
New election security measures.
A post office bail out.
Wind and solar Grant's.
Union members with board appointments
A percentage of minority and gender members on boards.
The last one had govt funded abortion.

These and many others have zero to do with Corona virus medical or economic relief. There is your Democratic party in action. Vote everyone one of them out of office in November. The Republican corporate bail out has to do with dying industries such as airlines and has protections built in and more could have been negotiated. But the Democrats are only interested in a crazy agency they cant get through election.
