LUBBOCK, TEXAS - Ole Miss men's basketball coach Andy Kennedy is a finalist for the Clair Bee National coach of the year award, it was announced today.</p> <div class="articleflex-container"> <div class="articleflex"> The winner will be revealed by Chip Hilton Sports and the National Association of Basketball Coaches at the Final Four in Detroit on Sunday.

The other finalists are Mike Anderson of Missouri, Brad Greenberg of Radford and Trent Johnson of LSU.

Kennedy led the Rebels to a 16-15 record this season despite the loss of three starters to knee injuries.

The selection committee for the award includes Dan Beebe, Jay Bilas, Dave Gavitt, Bob Hammel, Bob Knight, Pat Knight, Billy Packer, Dean Smith and Dick Vitale. </div> </div> </div>

When I started reading that, I figured it was some BS award given by some made up committee, but there are actually a handful of guys that know basketball on that list.

I don't really get that. Had we been a bubble team, or a team that just barely snuck in the tourney, then yea he'd deserve recognition. I still think he did a really good job considering the circumstances, but not good enough for any coach of the year consideration.

though I don't think he expected it so quickly. Holloway was expected to be pretty good too, and he got a lot better as the year progressed too. I think for both Holloway and White, they developed a lot more quickly than normal out of necessity. They didn't have time to be passive and learn the speed of the game. They had to sink or swim.
