teaches our golfers to draw the ball on their drives because you get more roll as opposed to a fade. Nevermind that he wins teaching the feather fade, I just hope that he coaches them to draw the ball because that goes further and is more aggressive.

I have heard he teaches left hand low putting, which is okay for nonconference tournaments, but I don't think it will hold up to the pressures of conference play.

I was afeared the body was going to say something like "is gone after this year," which would be an opinion I couldn't agree with.

They always choke come tourney time because they don't know how to handle dogleg lefts. And the thing is..he knows they are going to play courses with a lot of doglegs! Homan looks like a deer in headlights when one of his players steps on a 448 yard par 4 dogleg left. It's the same thing every year. You would think one of these years he would learn how to teach the draw or at least hire an assistant who specializes in teaching the draw.

You just have to decide if your satisfied with the success the golf team has had so far. Homan has already proven he can get good players that can win some tourneys playing without a full repetoir, he just can't win the big ones. Also, you have to remember, Homan is part of the reason we even think of State as a program that should win the big tourneys. It's frustrating watching our players walk up to the tee box year after year with no way to attack dogleg lefts, but unless we're willing to fire Homan for an unknown, we're really just wasting time/beating a dead horse/piling on/whistling into the wind/peeinginto the wind/peeinglikearacehorse/hunglikeahorse/eatingahorse/eatingcrow...I lost my train of thought.

Hey..I never said anything about firing Homan. I just wish he would recognize our inability to draw the ball and maybe hire an assistant who can teach it because it is evident he can't. Imagine how good our golf team COULD be.

as far as game day and strategy is concerned so that Homan can focus on recruiting/managing the team? Cause I could get behind that.

....I have a few things wrong with this thread...

1. Fades do go farther than draws....but draws can turn into nasty hooks as opposed to fades. Good golfers can hit controlled fades much easier than sling draws.

2. Clay Homan can't help most of these guys. Most of the kids on the team have their own swing coach from back home that they travel to go see.

3. People who hit fades usually strike their irons much better than people who hit draws. So yall are saying that you would rather see the guys drive it well but not be able to hit a 9 iron anywhere close as opposed to driving shorter, but down the middle, and hit the irons closer.

4. Im guessing that all of you guys must be pals with everyone on the golf team and know that they hit fades instead of draws... I watched the guys this year at the Mason Rudolph in Nashville and 4 out of the starting 5 hit draws off the tee. And you can do some research and see how stellar they played there.
