This year's baseball team = 2008-2009 basketball team.

Neither was expected to do much at the start of the season after losing a few good players (ie lost Jamont and Rhodes). Both got off to slow starts but finished strong and won the SEC tournament out of nowhere. Both got our expectations unjustifiably up with (likely) disappointing endings.

Hopefully this baseball team will be remembered better than many recalled that 08-09 basketball team. There are some that still call that season an underachievement when in fact they overachieved.

The difference is that we went to Portland and got the crap beat out of us in a one-and-done tourney. We didn't get a chance to come back and play again in 08-09 for basketball. Today, we are still alive... in the losers bracket, but we still can play our way out of it. We played our way out of the losers bracket last week from Thursday on. It's not an ideal situation, but we are still playing. Wait until we have either won or lost to make that comparison.

However our hitting performance coupled with our All-American getting shelled like a Baghdad military base yesterday does not engender confidence.
