2010 National Championship team:
Plumlee (SR) = Zoubek (SR)
Jefferson (SR) = Thomas (SR)
Jeter (FR) = Plumlee 1&2 (FR/SO)
Ingram (FR) = Singler (JR)
Kennard (FR) = Dawkins (FR)
Jones (JR) = Scheyer (SR)
Allen (SO) = Smith (JR)
Thornton (FR) = NO MATCH
..The Plumlee/Jefferson & Zoubek/Thomas combos are almost identical in size, skill, & experience.. However, Marshall is (much) more athletic than Z and Amile is a bigger offensive threat than Lance.
..Chase is about as close to (FR) Mason & (SO) Miles as possible.. Exact same size, athleticism, and a lot of untapped potential.. I do wish we had 2 Jeter's on this team though.
..Ingram & Singler are similar in that they are both SF's that can/could potentially play any position on the court.. Kyle was stronger, which made him a better option than Ingram in the post, but Ingram has better guard skills and is a better 3pt shooter.. But I don't think we can (or should) expect (FR) Ingram to be as good as (JR) Kyle.
..a (FR) Kennard & a (FR) Dawkins are very similar.. Same size and both are deadly scorers that just need a little more time before they will shine.. Luke is a better ball handler than Dre and has a higher ceiling.
..Matt & Jon are very similar in size, skillset, and the fact that neither of them are PG's but now have to play important minutes as PG.. Jon made much better decisions as a PG, but Matt is stronger and a better defender.. This would probably be an even better comparison if Matt was a (SR) like Jon was.
..Grayson & Nolan are both scoring guards with very good driving and shooting abilities.. Both are probably the most dangerous offensive players on their team.. Nolan had better PG abilities, but Grayson is bigger and more athletic.
..There is no comparison for Thornton.. The 2010 team did not have a true PG.. I believe Thornton's play this year can be the difference between this team being put out in the 2nd Round or going to the Final Four... No pressure, kid.
