I hate to acknowledge the "this recruit told that recruit" crap, but this is a message board. One of my Ole Miss buddies who is in Oxford this weekend emailed me this morning and said.
Mullen might as well cancel his visit to see Thompson. He has told several people on this visit that he will commit to Ole Miss tomorrow.

the same thing last weekend on his visit to State.

Edited to say: He told them he was coming to State, if that was confusing.

to both Thompson and Sanders, I would take what they told me w/ a grain of salt. Reading information from Yancy or Rosebowl or somebody who knows somebody? Its completely worthless.

But, I agree on this.

All of this "he said, she said" stuff is completely worthless.

We'll all know in 10 days.

Sanders and Thompson will both be Rebels there is no doubt about it. Sanders and Thompson HATED their visit to MSU if they didn't then why were they so unsociable?? But hey I would trust Yancy over Rosebowl Robertson anyday. Remember he said Newton will be State's starting quarterback and Newton is at Auburn.

Exactly.

If Mullen's in-home is still in play thenI still like our chances. Mullen needs to hit it out of the park, though. Maybehe'll pullTubbs' old trick of showing up at the house with the entire coaching staff.

I'llpreface this by stating that I think Sanders has been a Reb for a while, but: Steve said Sanders had a poker face on his visitto MSU and Yancy posted the same thing last night about his OM visit.I think that Sanders is visiting FSU next weekend.I wouldn't be suprised if Sanders is fed up with the pressure from both state schools and ends up there in the end.

I would be shocked if he didn't sign with Ole Miss.

Thompson, I feel like we have a shot, but I don't feel as good as I did two weeks ago. He clearly tells people what they want to hear, so it's impossible to really know what he is thinking.

regardless of destination, respect for someone who plays the recruiting game and the fools that follow it religiously.

Dude, I know both guys have their hits and misses, but Steve never said that we would get Newton or that he would be our starting QB. He said all along that it was a weird situation and impossible to read and that if he did show up, he still thought Russell would be the best passer on the team and there would be competition. Yancy has already been wrong on Robert Johnson twice, Damein Robinson, and Kaleb Eulls within the past few weeks. Why on earth do you think he's credible?

And yes, recruits often do tell people on their visit they're committing to that school, and Thompson did just that on his visit to State as well. I don't really know which way he's leaning, but he's telling both sides what they want to hear. The fact that the date for his decision was already set before the visit to Ole Miss makes me feel ok about him, though, and the fact that Mullen gets the last in-home right before said decision. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

Yancy never said fletcher cox would be a rebel and only said rebs were in the lead for elliot but said it would go down to the end.

and later had to retract those statements, and that just happened this week. Not sure about Eulls, maybe he said he was going to go to Tuscaloosa last weekend, which he did not.

Johnson was not allowed to come to Ole Miss by a family member because they were told Ole Miss started the Pony rumors. Yancy stated that. Johnson was the one that contacted Ole Miss about wanting to come on the visit. He did say Robinson was going to Ole Miss and then later said his source was wrong and that Robinson was not. At least he said he was wrong. Yancy has said all along that Eulls was maroon and white, he cares nothing about Eulls so don't know why he could care he was going to Bamer or not, either way has nothing to do with Ole Miss

this is the same guy who said earlier this week he would purposely be giving out misinformation in this time.

Wrong is wrong, it doesn't matter that you admit it later.

Look.  One year I made the mistake of donating money to the master wordsmith on Spirit...  That was the year of the Elliot debacle.<div>
</div><div>A few days before signing day, Yancy put out an article, quoting Elliot, saying something like "I'm bleeding red and blue."  Yancy was wrong.  Elliot lied?  Okay, well so did Newton, then...</div><div>
</div><div>This **** is retarded...  I have no tolerance for dumbassery; just like the whole 'burning crosses' **** on here got old after five toothless rednecks were yelled at on our campus, doing stupid **** like creating a username referencing the Pony... that's weak.  </div><div>
</div><div>I'm only 25, but I'm caring less and less about recruiting.  Not because recruiting doesn't matter, surely it does... but as the years have separated me from high school seniors, I feel creepier and creepier about knowing what they do on their visits.</div><div>
</div><div>Did they have a good time?  Great, glad to hear it.  Do I want to know they had the four piece half-and-half from Abners before making out with a redhead while doing the Cupid Shuffle at the library?  Now I'm just being a creepy douche of a stalker vicariously.  Thanks, but I'm out.</div>

He told Jay Hughes he would be at State.

What else did you think he would say on Friday night of a visit? You think he would still get any attention and have as much fun if he said otherwise?

There's more to the story, but I'll leave it at that for now.

What sort of attention do recruits who infer they'll be signing with the Rebs get while on their official visit?

direction my attitude has gone in the last 6 years about recruiting.

What we really need to be debating, if we all want to talk recruiting, is something that is tangible. That is to say past recruiting classes that have proven themselves on the field as of this PAST season.

Nancy also said R. Elliot and Fletcher Cox would be rebels.

I don't remember Yancy ever saying Cox would be a Rebel, just that our staff hadn't given up until late on him. In fact, like Eulls this year and Boyd last year, he pretty much said our chances were a long shot the whole time, especially after they had committed.

And I hate to defend Yancy, but I have to defend him on Elliott. Elliott was committed to us for a whole year, and up until the very end, he was still telling Yancy that he was committed. Obviously Elliott was telling other people differently, but you can't really blame Yancy on that one for going only with the information he had.

Thompson should be interesting, because just last week Robertson had him 85% to State I believe, and I'm guessing a lot of that came from Thompson telling Hughes he'd be at State. And Yancy's been just about as confident, especially after this week. I guess we'll all know for sure on him in two days, but whichever way he goes, I guarantee there will be plenty of accusations of cheating coming from the losing school.

He's obviously going to be the controversial recruit of the 2010 class. And with Thompson, since his father is a coach, I feel pretty safe in guessing that whatever commitment he makes Tuesday will be final. They've been pretty adamant the whole time that they wanted to announce as early as possible out of respect for the needs of the losing staff, so I would guess what they announce this week will be final.
