I think you inferred a little too much in my post.
Just to be clear, my belief is less government/regulations is best. Especially when it comes to a person's rights. Freedom of speech, gun rights, etc.. If everyone(who can legally own one) in KY had a gun on them it would stop a whole lot of crimes. My posts above is just that if there is a law(ccdw program new open carry law) i believe that should actually work/be effective.
Btw,
@BlueRaider22 Ruger Lc9s, galco iwb about 4 o'clock . I have an IWB holster that was given to me for my Beretta 92a1, but I have never tried using it. I really need to start carrying a knife. Need to invest in a good one and make a habit of packing it.
I may have, yes (read too much into your reply). I'm guilty of doing that. Too often. I think we all have a tendency to look further into one's meaning, even when several of us are being sincere about a topic of reasonable importance. This is one of them. We're discussing one of our core rights now, while dabbling into that sketchy habit of legislative / policy tweaking of those rights.
You mention a law's effectiveness. The discussion being about the CCP process with emphasis on the classroom requirement. That effectiveness. is it or isn't is? I would challenge that effectiveness is like beauty. It is in the eye of the beholder. Like that 65 mph speed limit sign. Or the "tax bracket" system.
I don't know how or when, but at some point in time the "law" decided it was illegal to conceal a handgun.
Eventually came the CCW permit, and has even been used in some states as a means to gain permission to carry out in the open. A huge database. Permanent. For the government to know who the "users" are. It should come as no surprise that as this list grows and grows, the talk of a tyrannical government's ability to take away out rights, perhaps even to take away those firearms, grows louder and louder. We've told them who we are, where we are. It would be wise to not ask for associated process to be more robust. People who have never applied for this permit and who may now enjoy "constitutional carry" . . . smart people. Hopefully more states will do as Kentucky. And maybe one day there will be a reciprocation among states in this way. That is probably being very hopeful.
I've been carrying a gerber EZ out clip-on, right hip pocket since the mid 90s. mine is a full blade (non skeleton, no openings that is, no serrations). Original design. Very hard to find anymore. black polymer handle. sharpens pretty good using medium stone. Finish it off using a ceramic heater out of a high pressure sodium bulb.
