but then he goes and forgets the rules, costing the Americans a 1/2 point, and then, the cherry on top, Figgy uses the phrase, "just saying". Can we build a wall and keep him out? Disgusting.

I am in total shock at this. How in the hell does he not know that rule? I like FIGJAM but I am flabbergasted over this.

That's easy, he's a pile of ****.

I know there is this sentiment that his act is bogus, but if that's the case then he's been hiding his true, mean self for many, many years. And if so many players dislike him, why did the players make a huge push to make him a captains pick for the Presidents Cup?

Is he arrogant? Probably but so is every other extremely talented person.

Que doc and his survey that says Phil is disliked by so many.

Hey, I just know what I've been told by a PGA Tour player who I know very well. I've never said a word to Phil. Fans love Phil because he does all the right things in interacting with them. But the players, not so much.

For the record, I've thus far paid essentially no attention to this event; certainly since the players arrived in Korea the other day. That having been said, I myself have honestly gotten no prior impression that anyone on the team has gone out of his way to support Phil's selection on the team (other than, perhaps having been questioned, reflexively replying they were "happy" he was on the team).

Am I dead wrong about that ??

Not saying Begay is telling a story, but I myself would much prefer to hear this supposed support directly from the mouths of Spieth, DJ, or perhaps Zach Johnson rather than an online piece. And as for Johnny MIller's take.....and FWIW, it wouldn't surprise me if he and Phil were close personal buddies.....more Touring pros probably hate him more than Phil..

For the record, now that I think about it, I may indeed have read something earlier in the week regarding supportive noises from Rickie Fowler about Phil.

I fully agree; but at least he admitted.....at least in the pieces I read online.....that he f***** up (and really didn't try....at least not very hard.....to weasel his way out of the screw-up).

Not sure of Coops hate of Phil but I have always found him to be a stand up man. How many times did he blow a tournament and handled the fallout perfectly? I watched his interview after the round talking about it and even though I'm scratching me head on not knowing the rule, he handled himself beautifully. And so did Zach Johnson. Both were class acts.

The most disliked guy on the PGA tour is Bubba Watson. I know some agents and they're pretty adamant about who is the biggest ***. By the way, everybody makes mistakes but even the rules officials screwed the pooch on telling Phil is was disqualified.

The team captains should have gone over the rules in a meeting. obviously, if the Ryder cup doesn't have a one ball rule, then the captains should have made it a point to go over it.
