I thinks it's a list of the well named players not the players who performed the best list. Shocked some kids were left off. What do you guys think?

I do not want to diminish the player that Amarni Jones is - he is tremendous.
But he played five games this year and earned a spot on the team.
I have no one to suggest for that spot, but it seemed odd.
In fact, I could imagine putting together a second team that would be worthy at every position, except quarterback. That is not a knock on anyone as guys like Love and Borland are all-world. I just see a lot of talent left out.
I have one, Nico Gagliani. Hetlett says he was his best ever, even though he has had 3 all-state LBs.
Having played Pennington, I would have assumed there was room for him in the backfield if not IKM.

Cap'n,
Hetlett also call Sam Brodner the best running back ever. Not taking anything away from Sam cause he's a great kid and athlete but seems Hetlett throws around the compliments about his kids pretty nonchantly.
Agreed. My longer statement in another thread said something like "I know those guys and would never be able to face them if I agreed with that statement." So I was slightly discounting over there. If I was selecting a defense, my first three picks would be Gags, Tuf and JLove,
Pretty sure the reference to Brods was an accurate statement of fact.
Cap'n
Again no disrespect to Brodner but think about the best RB's that have come out of Illinois and revisit your statement about him being the best ever. There are some seriously large shoes to fill, many have played, play, or will play on Sunday!
Dear lord man, I am talking about best to play for Hetlett. I have no frame of reference for IL history. Crap, I would take Red Grange over all of them. I know all about him. Cheers
Cap'n never quoted Hetlet as saying he was best Rb in Illinois history, he said he was the best for GW.Cap'n
I get what your saying, just said Hetlett said he was THE BEST! Hence May issue with objectivity.

You are offended about something he never even said.
With all due respect the quote was " Brodner is the best I have seen in my 20 years of high school football."
So if you break that down, did Hetlett see Ty Isaac? Not likely. He sees 13-14 RBs a year plus his. If he plays 89% of his regular season games vs WSC teams, and many on this board agree he might be the best anyone has seen from WSC, then we can narrow it down to out of conference opponents. I missed ESL in their 2008 year when they beat GW, but I did see WWS beat them in 2010 and that was the Reilly O'toole show. Vitale was next in 2011 and pretty sure Schutt shut him down. We never really played any all-state RBs in 12-15.
Bottom line is that Brod may actually be the best Hetlett has seen play in high school. Statistically, Brodner's season is amongst the best ever, but I will stop making that point.
No idea why some of those names are mentioned...Cap'n,
You've got to be kidding right...He never "saw" Ty Issac, Malin Jones, Michael Turner, Garrett Wolf, Josh Ferguson, Rashard Mendenhall, Lenord Ross, Justin Jackson(freakin' Glenbard North), Chris James, Jarvion Franklin, Kapri Bibbs, Robert Hughes, Kenni Burns, J.R. Zwierzynski(sp), Greg Fuller, Mike Ivlow, Austin Guido, TJ Rhattigan, and Joey Rhattigan just to name a few off the top of my head, that he chose to discount. Again I think Brodner is a great kid and Athlete but to call him the best in this assortment of talent is extremely high praise and leaves the question of objective credibility on the coaches part.

I am ill equipped for any further discussion on this topic. I am in no position to represent Coach and think it is silly to try to wind this up into something. He has obviously seen Justin Jackson and I have already said I would never compare those two. Peace
Cap'n,
What when facts get in the way you bail out?
You have Leonard Ross on your list. Not even close to the same class. A few on your list are but several are not especially at the high school level.
Seems beth long does that oftenI thinks it's a list of the well named players not the players who performed the best list. Shocked some kids were left off. What do you guys think?
