Tom Weiskoph had a 13 on that hole...
Absolutely stupid. He asked his caddie about the club being too much. Yeah, right!! EVERYONE knows you can't go for the pin on the right. You have that lead, don't worry about too much. Worse you will get is a bogey with birdie holes coming up.

I walked outside (for about 10-15 min) to say hello to a neighbor with Speith at -7 & returned with him at -1. I had to call my brother-in-law to make sure I wasn't in some twilight zone.

When you make a swing like that, what he asked the caddy.....to my way of thinking.....became largely irrelevant. But obviously, he must have been foaming at the mouth before he even made it to the tee.

Not that it matters, but for all the post game review of Spieth rinsing his tee ball......which, contrary to what some seem to think, happens every so often at 12.....I'm surprised how little the analysts seemed to be talking about that COOL MAN-like fatty he hit for his 3rd. For me, that was the killer swing; he plays a normal.....whatever that means, exactly, under circumstances like those.....3rd to the green and he's still (as you mentioned, BRU) got the chance to get out with bogey and a couple-shot lead.

Unfortunately, that was the swing where JS proved he was oxygen-deprived; and even the biggest Spieth fans (of which I admit I'm one) can't deny this was among the bigger meltdowns in the annals; and maybe the biggest. Meanwhile, I distinctly recall wondering (after his birdie at 9) how much of that 5-shot lead he was going to need (or use up) on the back side considering the problems he'd been having (especially on the last 3 holes).

But even though I myself hardly expected him to cruise to the title, I sure didn't figure him to flush 6 in three holes.
