MSU is willing to do some give and take. But the SEC wants all take and no give, and we aren't down with that. So nothing is happening yet.

I'd tell the SEC/Bama no thanks. Maybe I'm biased because I hate Alabama, especially after they got zero punishment for the whole textbook selling scandal. Also, you got to look out for number 1. If it gives me and mine a better chance to beat you, then I'm keeping my bye week right where it is.

Even if they give you concessions with "future schedules" because we know how that can work out. They say they'll give you something, then when it comes time to pay the piper, we get the shaft. If it was UF or UT or another school like that, they might follow through, but they won't with MSU.

what's the SEC going to do? Give us fair officiating for the Bama game? Actually call holding?

And honestly, I'm not sure how much of an advantage being off a week is. Yes, you get more time to prepare and rest, but I've seen a lot of teams come out flat in games after a bye week to. It obviously hasn't hurt Bama too much the past two years.

Maybe they could get us out of the scheduling rotation where our 3 biggest games (UM, UA, and LSU) are either all at home or all on the road every year. That would be huge from a budget perspective.

I wonder what we are asking for in return as well. I am guessing we are asking for something significant that we know they will not do. That way we can always say we offered to help but you didn't take us up on it.

but you know what would happen then- three straight years a Tuscaloosa for us. Because it used to be where we would play Ole Miss on the road and LSU and then Bama at home.

That said, and a lot of people may disagree with this- I kind of like playing LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss all at home every other year. In the other years, we still get to play Auburn at home, and usually when we play those three on the road, we still have to play someone that's pretty good from the East like Georgia, so it's not like it's a complete and utter disaster.

Also, it's nice to see that MSU isn't just caving in to Bama and the SEC for once. In years past, we probably would end up with two home games a year, end up playing Bama in Tuscaloosa 8 years in a row, have our home games with LSU moved to New Orleans, and have Florida as a permanent opponent from the SEC East along with a 20 year haitus of playing Vandy. Along with strict enforcement of the cowbell ban. And our AD would vote FOR IT.

I'll tell you what I would like to get back from the SEC- is move our game with Arkansas to earlier in the year. I'd like to play a Sun Belt school or C-USA school like UAB before we play the Egg Bowl.
