1. Clemson had LSU completely rattled after the 1st quarter, but the score didn’t indicate it. They missed a golden opportunity to go up by 17-20 points and make it very difficult for LSU to come back

2. Man, what a rough targeting call on Clemson’s inside LB. That guy had been wreaking absolute havoc up to that point, and you always hate to see a guy get yanked on that stage for such a subjective rule. That was really unfortunate

3. Let’s be honest. Lawrence was not good at all. After watching him completely dismantle the vaunted Bama defense last year as a true freshman, I’d never have thought that he’d look like that in a title game, but he was missing receivers by 5 yards left and right. I don’t know if he got dinged early on, and he just wasn’t letting on, but that was not Trevor Lawrence

4. No disrespect to either QB, but it really is amazing how much better your offense looks when you have 4-5 Randy Moss clones at your disposal. Both teams are on another level from everyone not named OSU or Bama

5. Call me nuts, but I’m happy as hell for Coach O. I can’t stand Saban, I think Dabo is a 2-face, and most of those guys can go to hell, but I like ol Orgeron. Well done man

On the targeting call, tough one to make but it was by the rules the correct call and wasn't close. Dude had his head down and lead with the crown of his helmet. Wasn't a particularly vicious hit but pretty textbook otherwise.

Yes Clemson came out hot but LSU was clearly the better team and the course of the game revealed it. Clemson missed that golden opportunity because LSU made enough plays to prevent them.

Can't deny that having good receivers can make a QB look so much better but Joe Burrow dropped some absolute dimes into pretty tight coverage. Lawrence was off his game because LSU put him off his game with pressure, team speed, etc. just like burrow started out that way because of Clemson's D.

The question for LSU is going to be if this was a flash in the pan or have they built something sustainable from an elite perspective. Personally I hope they have not.

I am not an LSU fan by any means but it was satisfying to see Clemson knocked down a notch or two.

No school with a "Bracky Brett" type running their compliance office will ever win a national championship in men's football or basketball. I think that has become pretty obvious.
