Last night was the first baseball game that I have seen since Cohen decided on the basic lineup that we are currently playing.My first thought was,the rebels have a team fullof "baseballplayers". If you haven't played agood bit of baseball, you probably won't pick up on the subtleties as easily. But, the differences b/t their players and our's were easily noticeable. From what I have seen,C. Powers, L. Adkins, and probably N.Vickerson are our only "baseballplayers". J. Butler might make that list, buthis head is so far up his *** that he doesn't get consideration from me. He has middle/lowerof the pack SEC talent, butthatdisplay he put on last night is usually reserved for 9th graders. No wonder his dad hates Cohen. We have a team full of one dimensional and no dimensional players outside of the three that I mentioned. Compare bat speed, swing, arm strength,foot speed,etc. to the rebels andthere is a big difference.
I will say that Ihave a few concerns about some things that I have heardhere about Cohen. Hopefully he will tone his "******* demeanor" down a few notches to a manageable degree and hopefully the fundamentals thing is just a lack of having good "baseball players". In my mind, once you are in the SEC, you should have the fundamentals thing down, but I guess they can always be worked. I'll finish by saying once again that even if Cohen is the best coach in the country, we aren't going to see dramatic improvement for at least a couple of years and that is based onthe majority of our current position playersignees panning out. </p>
