Thoughts on todays game. We could beat Florida at home.

-They aren't any better than us.
-Sidney reallyhurts us defensively in games likes this because of his lack of athleticism on the ball screens.
-Lewis has gradually lost confidence and gotten worse defensively.
-We really needCoup Deville back in the lineup because Bryant can'tbring the ball up the court.
-Hood needs to be more aggressive on offense and improve his ball handling this off season.
-Sidney needs to quit shooting KobeBryant two pointers.
-Stansbury drew up some good plays...unfortunately they were the same plays hedrew up the past two games and Florida was ready for them..
*Lob pass to Moutrie and double screen for Steele at the endof the game
-This is a game we can afford to lose. We have to win the next few easy games on the schedule and keep building so that we peak attourney time.

He tired in the 2nd half, but in the first half, he was spectacular defensively. No fouls, and his defense caused Florida to miss all of their postup shots.

I also do think they are better than us, although not by much. They are a great defensive team, and most nights I think they could beat us on a neutral court. However, if they ever cool off from 3, or had Moultrie had a better game, we make it close or win.

Missing 6 of our first 12 free throws is what killed us. We make 9 or 12 of those like normal, and UF doesn't clobber us.

I'm not talking about Sidneys one on one defense in the post. I'm referring to defending the ball screens and allowing open threes. He would either step out and take forever to recover to his man leaving backside guys open or he wouldn't step out and the ball handler would be left wide open.

I think with our personell an extended 3-2 zone would work very well. Hood and Bryant are both pretty long. I definitely think it would be worth a shot. Plus it wouldn't expend as much energy with our lack of depth.

He somehow manages to consistently have winning seasons and make the NCAA tournament half the time all without doing a damn thing after signing day. Damnedest thing I've ever seen.

point shooting team in the country? If you say so.

different because all teams have to do right now is extend Sidney out of the paint and it leaves a wide open 3 from a simple screen or a wide open cut to the basket. Sidney can only guard 3-5 feet of space. Ask him to guard an actual player with man to man defense is slightly more effective than having one of Stansbury's sons in the game on defense.

zone those thre point shooters.

the gigantic whole Sidney is causing on defense anymore than you do and I'm not an expert on designing a defense to hide a tremendous liability. The man to man we use right now needs some kind of tweak though because Sidney isn't capable of guarding anybody that isn't standing completely still underneath the basket.

Shot and made several threes over Arnett. There wasn't much effort there to defend it.

Sidney played a pretty good game, he's finally playing with heart and effort.

There is a reason I said to run an "extended" zone. It is a myth that zones don't defend the the three point shot. Most zones are made to pack the paint however an extended zone like Syracuse runs can be very effective stopping three point shooting teams.
