Couldn't agree more. We have some of the dumbest 17s for fans I've ever seen. In the hypothetical case that if a booster ever commited an NCAA violation I damn sure don't want to know about it. And I especially don't want anyone to tell me on a public message board.

True. The sad thing is some of our dumbass fans would rather know the names of all involved and us go on probation than just shutting up, not having to know everything, and no going on probation

You really think the NCAA doesn't already have the name? You think they are sitting around waiting on it to hit a message board so they can then investigate and hand out a punishment? Yall cant really be naive to think that this would blow over if it was never discussed on a message board. At this point, we are only discussing what they already know.

You are so sure about this that you would bet major consequences against it. Just wow.

We have a long way to go as a fan base.

You are really blowing this whole "our fanbase is the villian" crap out of proportion. It's almost hilarious honestly. ARe you in the same line of thinking that if we talk bad abot a recruit or say we dont want them on a message board, that recruit will choose another school? I think that's also just as equally dumb in my opinion.

Not that black and white, but yes.

Message boards have been used against us in recruiting.

Yes they already know the name, it is just another example of hat everyone HAS to know everything, and they want it plastered all over the internet. There is really no need for everyone to know everything that goes on.

And if you don't th that message boards have been used against us in the past you are crazy

If I were an investigator I'd damn sure look at message boards. Woudl take what I read with a grain-of-salt, but I'd for sure occasionally look for clues. I would think one of the best places to find good intel would be from threads were a couple of rival fanbases are going at it.

Just to look at it hypothetically. If a booster commits a violation and it gets exposed through Internet message board posts, then I hold both equally responsible for whatever happens. And don't think for a second that **** doesn't get exposed through the Internet and social media these days because that's the #1 source for **** getting exposed. One easy example is Strippergate a couple of years ago at the Pony. So everyone really needs to just STFU about potential recruiting violations. God we have the dumbest 17s for fans.

Edit to add a much better example. Look at all the trouble North Carolina has been in the last couple of years. Multiple forfeits, multiple star players declared ineligible, a good coach lost his job, bowl bans. All because of a Tweet. So please, keep this kind of talk off of public message boards.

We'd be a lot better off if everyone would remember the long-standing and time-proven principle:

"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."

But are always some idiots who are so hungry for internet cred that they can't resist, even if it does hurt our program. Their self-perceived internet cred comes above all.

You give the NCAA WAAAAAAAY too much credit. Do I think the NCAA is waiting around for a name to pop up on a message board? Hell yes I do! This isn't the FBI or anything. They have a handful of investigators who are walking into a strange state/situation and trying to get information from people that will hurt the school or a player they care about. Despite some public successes the NCAA is really incapable of doing much.

So yes, they read message boards. Because people are just ******* stupid enough to come and brag about having a tidbit of information. And in order to get some credibility they usually spill the whole damn thing. So the point hatfieldms was making is that if our fans would keep that **** to themselves we would be in much better shape. We don't really need that much scoop if the end result is that we end up on probation.

What happen in Vegas STAYS THE **** IN VEGAS!!!!!

You're speaking Greek to some of these people

Please remember there is a large contingency of posters on here that think social media "doesn't matter" and has no value. In a world where the news is not sourcing Twitter and Facebook, they still fail to face the music. Social Media and interweb cred may be the important thing to kids nowadays. And #Hailstate on the field was a stupid idea. No way that will catch on...

To think the authorities do not look at websites and forums for leads is ignorant. I'm not saying its the only method of gathering information, but it's sure one of them. An anonymous lead is an anonymous lead.

If this was JeremiahShort, no one would be trying to protect the alleged guilty.

Ain't this the truth

I have my assumptions on who the "Rogue Booster(s)" are though. And if it is who I think it is he/they are regular posters on message boards, and have posted on this board before as well.
