Wilson is coming to MSU, but after the bowl game. They claim an announcement is coming tomorrow. Price tag is around 2 million a year. They are ripping us as a black hole of college football and how this is really a step down. They seem upset by his possibly leaving, but maybe more upset that its to come to MSU. The guy who posted got the news from his boss who is a big wig alum. Take it for what its worth.

I can say that I won't be too happy if he doesn't start until mid January, but I can see why he'd want to finish what he started in a NC game. You can register for free and read everything on the site.

I agree that it sucks that he won't start until after the bowl game but hopefully he is worth it.

.......him stayiung there through the title game either, but I do have to note there would be a difference between him staying and when Croom stayed with Green Bay. When we hired Croom, our recruiting class was garbage. We really needed him to hit the grounhd running and try his best to clean it up. Wilson, on the other, would be inheriting a much better situation all around, including the class of commitments. All we'd really need him to do is to make sure he doesn't let those guys get away from us, especially Russell, but all of them are important. I really hope we hold onto the jucos.

I will have to pull for OU. If they light it up in the championship against Florida then the commentators will be forced mention MSU and the media attention can only help at this point.

if he is indeed the next coach. He should get to town and start building his staff and working to hold onto our commitments.

Coach Wilson to MSU...
Announcement will be tomorrow. My boss is a HUGE alum, told me yesterday. Around the $2 million a year range. He will stay through the bowl game.

Sucks. Does this always happen to us.

Lets hope he is somehow using it to get more $$ at OU. I don't see how he can turn down money anywhere close to that offer though. Even at Mississippi State.

That's a huge step down from even a coordinator position at a school like OU. I doubt it's true, anyway.

Interesting, on the radio here in Florida, some guy was talking about this.

Mississippi State might be one of the toughest jobs in America,

I cannot believe that MSU would pay $2 million for a coach, much less for one who has just been a coordinator.

If true, I'd feel just fine letting Josh call the plays...Anyone else on our staff lead us to a national title? Josh called all audibles without question during his national title run.

MSU is a black hole. Nobody will win there. Don't they have the worst athletic budget in the SEC?

Congratulations are in order.

he can pull double duty and tell recruits to "hang on, I need to talk to Possible Heisman Winner Sam Bradford for a second". Sarkisian is pulling double-duty for USC. It can be done, and I'm ok with it because Wilson hasn't been out of college football for 17 17ing years (nice) like our previous hire.

I will have to go against my upbringing and root aGainst the SEC. IF Wilson is indeed our new coach - beating FL by 20 will lend weight to his recruiting pitch.

for the past ten minutes. Several things are very clear.

1. They think MSU is the Taint of the college football world and are shocked that Wilson could not find a better school to coach at
2. Many of them are freaking the hell out that he will not be there to coach the NC. (although I thought we heard he was staying until after the game)
3. They are not that bothered that he is leaving and won't be there next year. They think they can easily replace him.
He is very well respected on that board. I cannot imagine having that respect for a coach at state. IF he comes, this could be a lot of fun.

What the hell was stoops? I don't know if they started him out at 2 mil but they took a chance on a coordinator and looked how it turned out. Head coach salaries have changed obviously, boy I hope we get him

Agree with Costanza, this class is aready in pretty good shape. If he can spend a little time here and there to keep it together and possibly get another 2 or 3 players it's not a problem. The publicity would be huge, especially if he puts up big numbers against florida. hell, he might even have kids calling him wanting to come play for that offense he is going to put together.

The guy is a few weeks from playing for a national championship. Give him a f*ing break. I'd sure as hell want my shot. He may never get another one.

and to go further- OU only has so much time to prepare for their bowl game, and someone will confirm this for me, but most of that bowl prep time is during a dead period for recruiting.

Secondly, we know that Wilson would be here no later than Jan. 9th.

The NFL playoff run through the middle of Jan., and possibly end in Feb. Of course National Signing Day is in Feb. and most of the visits occur in Jan. So in essence, with Wilson, we would be losing maybe one weekend, if that.

He would have time to assemble a staff before the bowl game and recruit before bowl prep.

The dead period starts Monday and goes through New Years Day. We already have 16 commits. I'm guessing he will meet with some of the Juco recruits that are Dec. grads, but they sign next week, so other than that he won't be missing much. The players won't be on campus, so outside of him hiring coaches and calling recruits, which he can do in Norman, where is this a problem? I'm pretty sure it will be a hell of alot better for us for him to stay and coach the NC game, so we can get some positive exposure. Hell, the guy can call recruits and tell them to watch the NC game and see what you think of your new offense. I think it helps us more than hurts us with him staying. F'ng Croom was telling recruits to watch the RB's, while he finished up in GB.

I cant believe how the guy just posts it as a rumor... i mean come on... everyone else that posted completely thought it was fact and was wondering why it wasnt on ESPN yet... strange...

I will believe...... when i don't have to post a Photoshopped picture of him to put him in MSU apparel.
