I am so sick of seeing this posted in relation to this year's team. Our Final Four team was also coming off a Sweet 16 appearance and had without question the most talented starting five in our history. Our 1996 team beat a couple of bottom feeders by 50. Our 1996 team this. Our 1996 team that. Our 1996 team had a different head coach. And this team is nowhere close to out 1996 team. NOWHERE. CLOSE. Anyone who knows anything about MSU basketball knows we lost to UALR. They also know who the coach was and who their star guard was. Even Hanmu and Brian know this and they don't throw it out there. Nothing personal JXN. It's just been posted about 100 times in the last two weeks, or about half as much as live and die by the three was posted last year.

Syracuse lost an exhibition game to a Division II school, and two weeks later beat the shat out of UNC. I bet the Coach34 on the Syracuse message board was going apeshit after they lost to LeMoyne. In other words, nobody should be getting too bent out of shape over one game like people tend to do around here.

I don't think anyone is specifically tying this team to the 96 team. Just using a familiar example of a good team losing a head-scratcher and then going on to have success. Nobody is saying that means we are going to the Final Four this year.
It's also being used an reason to accept playing like crap and winning, but playing like crap is not going to result in winning for much longer. Either we turn it up a notch in the next few weeks or we are staring several losses dead in the eye.

Look, if you are happy losing to those teams, that's your deal. I like to win. I despise losing, particularly if we could have/should have won with better effort and execution.. But if we don't, I guess it's OK because our 1996 team lost four of five in the SEC and still went to the Final Four. I'm not jumping on your pin up boy about this. we lose both games by double digits in South Padre. I don't understand why some of you continue to defend lousy performance after lousy performance from this team. Do you just look at the box score? Do you not consider how we play? Or who we are playing? It's absolutely amazing how dumb some of you are.
