Throwing tonight.

So are we going with Laster and hoping he can get through the order at least once, and turning things over to Lindgren at the first sign of trouble?

Tatum seemed to do well against them last night and they (Laster & Tatum) are somewhat similar styles.

Thoughts?

I think the plan is Laster for 5-6 innings, then Lindgren for 3-4, then Holder in the 9th if we need him to close it out. But yeah, Laster will have a pretty short hook. We can't afford to wait until we're 2-3 runs down to bring Lindgren in.

I think Tatum threw around 50... I can't see him being able to throw tonight. I would imagine we have all hands on deck, with the exception of Ross, Woody and Tatum.

Thompson said on the post game show that we were experimenting with tempo (maybe I misunderstood) late in the game trying to find something they didn't respond well to. I hope they found something, because we basically shut them down the last few innings.

I know Laster pitches inside. His command has to be flawless tonight. If he's missing things over the plate or hitting batters, he won't last very long.

That sounds like he is having the pitchers try to interrupt the hitter's rhythm in the batter's box. I would think after watching last night, those guys like to jump in the batter's box and go, so doing anything to interrupt their chain of thought might screw them up mentally. Then again, he could just be talking about pitching patterns.

I think

they were keying in on something our pitchers were doing early, because they were just crushing some pitches. I understand they are a good offensive club, but it was a little ridiculous last night.

They were like 10-11 with RISP through 5 innings last night. That's ridiculous.

I think we need to really slow things down tonight when we're batting. It's hard to build momentum in a baseball game if the other team is seeing 15+ pitches per inning.

There is absolutely no way I wouldn't start Lindgren. Makes zero sense. Let's not wait till the bases are loaded and we're losing. Never know how many innings he could go.

To start the 7th. And it seemed to work against most batters.

Preparing for a start and preparing for a relief appearance are so different. Bring Lindgren out of the pen tonight.
