in the MS all-star game against some of the best players in the state. He won the MVP and put almost every pass on the money.

Aw hell Todd4State you have done it now. Be prepared to be bombarded by residents of the 39211. I predict a mid-thread hijack in short order. (No pun intended for Farve)

My reasons for questions is that 4A is not 5A. Playing S.P. , M.C. , N.W.R. , Brandon, O.G. , and George co. for three years you can measure someone. Favre might make a solid QB but he does not strike me as a SEC starting QB. Throwing the ball is relative, Relf can throw but where the it is going ?

Relf and Russell. I'm glad that Relf has improved so much but the spring game was not a good barometer for who is going to end up getting it done for us. Relf can run the hell out of the ball but you can't teach/coach him up to Russell's passing ability either - which I think in the end make our running backs better. I don't have a dog in the hunt but its my gut feeling that Russell ends up being the guy.

whats makes our offense better is having a running QB that can make a few throws. Russell will not start over Relf unless Relf gets hurt these next 2 years. The fact that Russell is not even throwing it better than Relf at this point should tell you all you need to know.

Mullen's offense for the last 3 years has been 67% run, and it will continue to be that way.

Russell isn't throwing it better than Relf. And he isn't in the same universe as Relf as a runner. Why would we want him to be the QB? Why would we want to play the lesser player?

oh you have no idea how much I'd like him to be... better than Russell. That would make my year

All I've seen are highlights, and that's no way to completely judge someone of course...If he can get the job done, great for us

reason do you wish that? Your posts seem to reflect a desire that Tyler not succeed at MSU. What for?

the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game or the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Game, because most of the top players in the state go to the Mississippi/Alabama Game?

And as many know, I don't care for him and I don't think he will do anything other than be a holder for us.

I'm not "dismissing him because of his height"- I will admit that is part of it, because the fact of the matter is a QB that has good size- and there is a hell of a lot of difference between 5'9" and Drew Brees being 6'0"- is typically going to be more projectable. Ask yourself this- if height isn't a desiriable trait in QB's, why aren't they all 5'8"? Maybe every football coach in America is wrong to.

But beyond that, the game that I saw Favre play, he completed about 50% of his passes, he floated most of them, his arm motion was horrible, and the offense at St. Stanislaus appeared to be let Boomer Scarbrough and Krisjohn Wilkerson- two very good WR's for a 4A school run down the field and let Favre throw it up for grabs and let them out jump everyone. Wilkerson is walking on at MSU by the way.

I've seen film of Favre to- and it was equally unimpressive.

And hell, maybe I just happened to go to the worst game that Favre ever played in his life. Maybe you went to the best game he ever played in his life. I know that Dan wanted at least three QB's ahead of him. I don't think that's up for debate.

I do think that people just pick out the height thing mainly because of Tyson Lee and Henig, but they are also ignoring the other deficiencies that Favre has.

And I'm like ck- I hope he proves me wrong. I hope he set every MSU passing record, leads us to the Sugar Bowl, goes on to be better than Brett and wins multiple Super Bowls. More than likely he maybe starts as a fifth year senior- assuming he can beat out Dak Prescott, and I don't think he will, and is at best an average QB.
I'm guessing you were a coach of a team he beat on last season to have the animositytoward him and I really question if you watched film on him. He didn't pass for less than 50% in any game and averaged 65% on the season. To say he floated passes in hugely inaccurate- you won't find a coach he faced that will say the same thing. Every coach he faced in HS from Picayune's Dodd Leeto D'Iberville's Buddy Singleton to Jackson Prep's Ricky Blackwill tell you he's a gamer and they've seen plenty of football and won plenty of games. Wilkerson and Scarborough were both great HS WR but to say they tossed them jump balls is another gross mistatement. Both WR are 6-2 and Scarborough was 245 so I'm not sure who you watched him outjump. You never watched the Rockachawsif you say that statement. The offense was a precision passing game and was not a vertical passing game. That's not to say they didn't throw the long ball but I know they weren't heaving it down the field for jump balls.Favre wasn't a good HSQB - he was a great HS QB.

To say that Peyton Johnson at MC was a good HS QB might be OK but anyone who watched the Blackwell Classic saw Favre and some other guys taking snaps. The other QB's weren't even close in skill level throwing the ball and running the offense. To compare opponents to who he faced? Bay, Hancock and Mendenhall? State isrecruiting Mendenhall's LB and he didn't do anything in the game vs. Stanislaus. He threw well against everyone, including theMS All-Star gameand if you thinkall of the top players play in that game, think again.

with the animosity here.

I don't want him to fail. I want him to be good because it benefits us.

If I was a football coach, and I'm not, I would not be so petty as to want him to fail because "he beat my team". That's completely retarded. IF he beat my team and I was a coach, I would just be happy that he's gone.

I can have an opinion of someone that's not favorable and still want them to succeed. It's called being objective.
