These weather delays are such an overreaction.
There's lightning less than 9 miles from the stadium. I've seen it strike up to 30 miles from the parent storm. Then you have a stadium 150ft tall and all those lights going up higher and it's going to be an attractive target for lightning so I understand erring on the side of caution. They do nothing and a lightning strike kills 50 fans in the upper deck...

I don't know where the stadium is on the map, but the storms seem to be moving out of the area toward the SW. Maybe the delay won't be so long.

Looks pretty much the same in Tuscaloosa.

Best I can tell, the University is a little SE of downtown Columbia. If that's the case, the delay shouldn't be all that long unless more storms develop.

The Vandy game could go to OT with a field goal, so a delay might be Ok (both games on SECN).
Scratch that - NC State just got an interception.
Another strike just detected w/in 8 miles so that restarts the 35 min clock.
At least that storm is moving away from the stadium, but the storm is also intensifying. Hope it continues to move out.

I could have told you that without opening a weather app. Swear it’s never going to rain here again
Funny how scattered the rain is. I live about 2 air-miles from the HSV airport, where NWS measurements are taken. I've had about 1.5" in 3 separate "events" in the last week. Officially at the airport, only 0.04".
