Ticket selection question

My selection window is today at 1:10 PM. At 11 AM, it said that the next selection timeslot was in 2 hrs 40 minutes, which would obviously mean 1:40 PM. What does that mean? Did we get pushed out or is that how long we have to make our selection?

I don't understand.

They pushed them back

Because of the tornados. I picked last Thursday and my time was pushed back about 26 hours from when it was originally scheduled. Maybe they made up some ground on getting people through which is why I would guess yours is only pushed back a few hours as compared to the 26 last week.

Mine was rescheduled for Monday morning (after the tornado). But the actual slot was a few minutes behind my scheduled time. Only thing I can figure out is it works like the Dr's office --- be here at 1:10 but you don't get called back until 1:45.

I think somewhere it said they only let 3 people choose at the same time... so maybe if someone had a technical problem and had to call the ticket office it could set everyone back.

As it turns out, I just needed to log out and back in.

It had the correct post-tornado selection time, but for whatever reason had the countdown clock off by an hour thirty. All done now.

Also, this process is stupid.

May I ask you to expand on that thought? Just curious..

I feel like there is absolutely no good reason they couldn't have offered people who had been in their present seats, I don't know, five years or longer, the opportunity to stay put at the new prices. Our crew had been in the same location since the start of the Croom Error, and now because of the way this worked, we had to split up because I wasn't willing to downgrade my own seating to accommodate what the other group thought they had to have.

No good reason to me that the AD couldn't have said "Okay, here's what it costs for you to stay put. If you're okay with that, great, you can keep your seats. If you're not okay with that price, or if you want to try to upgrade, then you must reseat based on priority and what is left."

The tornadoes moved my selection time from Friday, May 2nd at 9:20 am to Monday, May 5th at 11:35 am. FYI for anyone curious.

This was one of my biggest gripes as well

Tell people that they either had to join the TTF campaign or donate a kidney. Whatever... but there should have been some sort of option to retain seats even if it did mean dropping a large pile of cash.

How would he know how much it would take to keeps those seats without having everyone else frozen in the system?

By giving people a pre-selection option to keep their current seats by doing something such as joining TTF. In other words, it wouldn't be tied in any way to location or what anyone else is doing. A simple no questions asked flat rate and high dollar option to stay where you are and if you decline or miss the deadline, then you get thrown back into the standard selection process.

But then you'd be back to the problem of people who give less getting better seats than people who give more. Bottom line is, the OP could have continued to sit with his entire group, but chose not to. Why are people so freaking attached to "their" specific seats anyway? There's really very little difference between Section 4, Row 35, Seats 24-25 and Section 5, Row 40, Seats 10-12. So what if you moved a little? Get over it. I bet you spend the whole hour glaring and anyone who has the gall to sit in "your" seats at church.

Yes, you'd have a few instances of that being the case, but nothing compared to what we were facing prior to this year's re-seating process. if the prerequisite is that you have to join TTF in order to qualify, how many people are really going to take advantage of that? At least it would have been an option, though, and there would have been multiple benefits. 1) It would have given people some sort of ability to stay where they are 2) It would allowed people to bypass this whole re-seating process 3) Scott would probably have more TTF members than he does now

Personally, I was not one of the ones pissed about moving. I came out of this just fine, and I'm really glad that Scott took this opportunity to recalibrate. That said, I just feel that there should have been some sort of option to keep your seats, even if it was a very expensive one like a TTF commitment

You just give a High Estimate.

How would he know how much it would take to keeps those seats without having everyone else frozen in the system?

You do it 200 at a time. Tell the Top 200 to pay X amount to keep your seats, the next 200 x amount, etc...
After this is done, you open it up to those who want to upgrade or don't currently have seats.
I would be surprised if you wouldn't have raised more money by doing it this way..
I have fiend who's family is in the Top 200 and lost out on their 18 seats they have had forever.
They are pissed off at Scott and let him know about it.
To this time he hasn't made any attempt to reach out tho them about their displeasure.

I would have been for giving someone the option to drop a significant amount of cash to keep their current seats, but that would be difficult and time consuming. From the athletic dept. position, it is impossible to move forward with something like this without making a lot of people mad. My understanding of TTF was that it gave you a chance to earn extra points to increase your ranking. I never paid to much attention to it since I could not afford to do it. I did pay attention to the changes in my ranking leading up to the lock date. I looked at what it would cost me to move up in ranking to get better seats or at least stay where I was. It was a guessing game. I decided on an amount that I hoped would hold up and made the payment. I ended up being able to upgrade and I was happy with the process. The bottom line is we all had the opportunity to increase our ranking. It might have taken a very significant donation to move up in ranking, but that was the purpose of the overall process.

Something I wish I had the forethought to do!

A friend of mine did do this. As a group we all moved to the scoreboard club but when his regular time came, he selected regular seats also. His reasoning was that if he didn't like the SBC or decided that it wasn't worth the extra expense he would have good seats next year. If I now come to that conclusion, I'm at the end of the line and in the nosebleeds regardless of my points unless somebody releases seats for 2015. It is an extra expense but he feels like he can sell some game tickets to offset the cost. I wish I had at least logged on at my time to see what was available to me at my points level.

Let me be clear, I could've always had better seats. My giving level has always been higher than what was required to keep my previous and current seats. We were high up in section 2, looking across the south goal line. To describe my seats, I never at any point thought Tyson Lee scored in the 2009 LSU game. Not what anyone would call premium seating. The athletics dept would have lost no money by saying "Your existing seats will cost you $150 per seat. Are you okay with that or would you like to pursue other seats?" We all would've said okay to that.

It's pretty obvious to me that they want to herd the large groups of people- like the group of 18 into the scoreboard club.

"Hey, we broke your group up- but I know a way we can get y'all all together!" It's like they're blackmailing people into the scoreboard club.

I think you're ok in the scoreboard club because of the elevation as long as you are one that doesn't mind the end zone view because the amenities will make up for it. Now, those in the Gridiron Club I think are going to be highly disappointed unless they don't care to watch the game from there and only want to hang out pre & post game. Its not that much money ($750/seat) but if you are going to actually try and watch the game from there I think its going to be a cluster **** unless they make some major changes. The pom pom squad stands down there in the end zone some, the bands walk back and forth in the 2nd and 3rd Q's going to perform and back to their seats, the costumed Little Caesar, the tater tot and the milk shake hang out down there, photographers and remote cameramen, state troopers, the Allstate extra point net, the throw the nurf football at the Ford truck people, etc, etc. I toyed with the idea of Gridiron but decided I could just hang at the tent if I wanted to watch it on tv and save my $$ because of the sucky view.
