1) Pollard seems to be the leading candidate (this week)
2) MSU seems to not be wanting an asst. coach but only a HC
3) HC we've reached out to are hesitant bc they see the situation w/Selmon as "not stable"
4) The Plainsmen's coach still would like to come back but... (see #3)
5) Its just not a great time of year to be committing or hiring

I don’t where you’re getting your info, but they aren’t too plugged in. Butch ain’t leaving Auburn.

Chris Pollard ?? His record doesn't look very impressive to me.
Don’t know how much of a candidate he is or isn’t but he is a great coach. Duke baseball had not made the NCAAT since 1961 before hiring Pollard. He has taken them to the NCAAT six times since 2016 (will make trip number seven this June) and has made it to three Supers. Would be a very strong hire, IMO.

What's more concerning is the perceived instability at AD that might keep us from making a splash hire
We just extended his contract lol. You suck at this trolling thing

I don't see Pollard as being anything more special than Butch or Mingione. To me there's not much out there other than Virigina's coach (who ain't gonna come here). As someone else said, maybe not such a good year to make a splash hire.

Well, considering a number of coaches are looking at the settlement and commitment to baseball side, it's a great year to be looking.

I've heard there's minimal interest in Pollard.

The source on this one may be questionable

I plan on being entirely underwhelmed with this baseball hire!
And with that - a question ??
When was the last time you were really Overwhelmed with a State coaching hire in any sport?
I think I have to go all the way back to JWS.
And to be honest, when I heard Vic Scheaffer speak at a Alumni golf event I thought damn I wish we had hired this guy as the Men’s Coach vs the guy we did hire - And he spoke the same night at the same event.

Sherrill was selling cars when we hired him and you were excited?

Still haven't seen anything in the press about him being extended, is that some kind of secret? He's only been here just over 2 years and they are already extending him?

Meh… would take the guy at Troy over some of these coaches looking for a retirement plan.
Was wondering why no one was talking about him. He seems ok and maybe should be interviewed. I would interview him, Burroughs, Butch, Mingione, and a few others.

Yeah.....Howland got me pretty excited....and that was based on the fact that many of our rival competitors were publicly commenting...."how in the hell did we get him"! Several big time basketball schools wanted Howland at that time when we got him. I also remember being excited when Bob Tyler came to us. He was a up and coming assistant at Ole Miss and an OM grad. They failed to promote him when everybody thought they should have.....he got pissed and we hired him. We beat Ole Miss 3 of the 4 years I was in college at MSU. That got me pretty stoked and that was the turning point in which we were to shed the image of being the Rebels red-headed step child.

Throwing anything at the wind here. Your number 3 is just BS. What coach sees a Selmon as a “Not Stable” … not saying I wouldn’t agree, but where is your “Source” claiming this lol?

Plenty of people assume Selmon is out the door as soon as he gets a better offer. He’s rumored to have interviewed at other schools. That may not be a fair assessment, but that’s the perception people have.
I’m sure Butch knows enough folks around here to have heard the same thing.
That worry doesn’t really make sense to me, though. It’s not like the new AD would just abandon baseball. We’ve supported baseball at an elite level since long before Selmon got here.

And as much as ADs move around, since when did that become a such a factor? I suspect there is personal bias in that one because of a snub at a road show event.
