I never thought he was a great prospect despite the numbers he put up.

Man, Patterson, Tig, Cotton, that DE from Illinois, thats pretty serious talent walking out the door

..you never thought he was a great prospect despite his numbers because you thought his off the field issues would catch up with him or were you never impressed with him as a potential D-1 athlete?

we didn't think he was a great prospect because we didn't think he would ever play a down of college football.

I remember when Gene made that comment before the Egg Bowl in 2007, and I blasted his *** on the Lake for saying that.

I think that was my last post over there.

Even if it was true, that shouldn't have been said on the radio.

I hope Tig somehow gets his life straightened out. This may be a blessing for him because now maybe he will have a chance to leave the Batesville/Oxford area where his bad influences seem to be.

Nutt's 2009 class of 37 originally looked like this.

1 - 5 star0 remaining
4- 4 star 1 remaining
25 - 3 star 16 remaining
7 - 2 star All 7 are remaining

They've had a really nice retention rate on the 2 stars.

This class was ranked #17 nationally. I don't know if they do re-rankings, but in looking at the original 2009 Scout rankings, this class would probably rank somewhere between the #29 ranked Rutgersclass with 1 - 4star and 19 - 3 stars and the #44 Baylor class with 1 - 4 star and 13- 3 stars.

I've seen a lot of focus on the demise of their 2009 class, but upon doing a little research this evening I was very pleased to see how well our 2009 class has held up in comparison.

We signed 8 - 4 star recruits. All 8 are still on the roster
We signed 15 - 3 star recruits. All 15 are still on the roster
We signed 4- 2 star recruits. Only 1 is on the roster - Jonathan McKenzie. Darius Slay has recommitted for 2011 class and is now a 3 star. Billy Hamilton is playing minor league baseball somewhere. The only one I have no clue about is Madrecus Hood - a 2 star recruit out of Alabama.

Our intact class was ranked #19 and I think has really good things ahead of them.

always starts out by mentioning his two back to back great recruiting classes. Ever since Orgeron took over there has been a well orchestrated (i give them credit for this) campaign to appear to recruits to be "one of the big boys". From Shepard Smith to "stars" being "reevaluated" after a player commits to them, to the entire rebel fanbase knowing thecomplete weekend agenda for visiting recruits (so they can be there to welcome them). Theyhave it down pat. Problem is, they are having a hard time getting the signees to cooperate and stay in school up there.

feeling the pressure of no-shows and a walk on QB with a criminal past, Nutt intends on letting it rip according to an assistant on staff...

He says the tone and inflection was pretty natural for Nutt, although he's still working on memorizing all of the words...

It really depends on how you look at it. Something like 22 players for that class will start or contribute this year, which is a pretty amazing stat given the attrition of these highly rated players.Oddly enough, it's turned out to be a great class for OM.

I heard many Rebels say that Nutt has consistently kicked Mullen's *** in recruiting. And I've heard that since they've still got 24 of their signees from 2009 on the roster, they're not having retention problems.

"We don't know what demons the young man is wrestling with but whatever they are obviously more important than the game of football and WE as his Ole Miss family should wish only the best for him as he takes care of these PERSONAL issues. Tig has proved that he can live a disciplined life and meet the standards set forth by others (both Coach Nutt and Pete were willing to accept him back after the spring and summer). Again, that Tig feels he still needs time to address his personal life is itself a sign of maturity and responsibility. I wish him well and hope he succeeds in life whether he ever steps foot on the football field or not."

There is nothing mature or responsible for a high profile football recruit that can't get his life straight in 2 or 3 years to play football while on scholarship. Ridiculous.

Behind a bigger OL, and that he'd be the next chapter in "powerful South Panola RBs that never really do anything" story. His part is right after Jeramie Griffin (went to bama). When I watched Pegues I thought "Man that guy is fast enough to play on any team in the country," but I never got that feeling with Tig.

I'm not saying MSU never offered or anything like that, just that I never thought he'd do anything beyond South Panola.

"What a mature and responsible thing for Tig to do."

That said, he'll probably be back in a month or two because, "Tig needs UM football more than UM football needs him."

Not sure I follow, but most of that class will see its first action this year. Guys like Charles Sawyer and Ja-Mes Logan will likely be starting as redshirt freshmen. Mike Marry and Evan Swindall will be heavy contributors after grayshirting. Whigham, Neat, Gaines, McCray, and Brown are all good players that likely won't see a ton of PT as redshirt freshmen due to the depth chart, but they will all see a lot more in 2011 and 2012.

Joel Kight, DT Shackelford, Jesse Grandy, Bobby Massie, and Rodney Scott all contributed last year and will either start or be in the immediate rotation this year.

If you're a star gazer rival fan, you jerk off to Drummond, Cotton, Patterson, and Barksdale, but it was still a very good class, and the numbers from that class still in school are very good.

Those are just the ones off the top of my head, but even without the guys we lost I'm still very happy with the 2009 class, and it's going to be a good one for us when those guys get some years under their belt.

The "greatness" of their 09 class is 100% hype at this point. All but one of their top recruits from that class are gone. The rest may have been great cheerleaders for O`s boys last year but they haven`t done a damn thing to deserve to be called a great class.

I just find the post mortem here to be comical in light of the fact that 6 of them came out of the spring as starters (3 on special teams), 14 others are on the 2 deep, and one proved good enough to play early last year until he suffered a season ending injury (Tim Simon). That's a hell of a lot of players out of one class who are apparently panning out. How many games will they win? Who the hell knows.

Why is Tig out at OM? If Masoli was deserving of a 2nd chance (err I mean 4th chance), why isn't Tig deserving of the same?

Hopefully this is the beginning of Nutt alienating The Pipeline. And for whatever it's worth, I still haven't given up on Brassell.

Tig and Pat, they were both dating Nutt at the time. There's a big difference there. But you're probably one of those guys who thinks the '09 class is a bust. What happened to this damn board? ****. Carry on lameasses.
