Technically he was the passing game coordinator at KU and I believe Fatgino called plays. Could be wrong. Can we hire him as OC? His offenses made KU dangerous and made Tommy Armstrong and Taylor Martinez competent. Also our WRs got open. Helped make up for our defenses crumbling.
Dang good catch. Your correct pretty good for a first time OC at the FBS level while here.Technically he was the passing game coordinator at KU and I believe Fatgino called plays. Could be wrong.
Most pass plays with Tommy felt like YOLO balls. So fun to watch, while at the same time, nerve-wracking!I wasn’t a huge Beck fan, but I’ll give credit where credit is due on the numbers.I often thought that Taylor Martinez and Tommy Armstrong bailed him out a lot with their athleticism. I preferred Shawn Watson over Beck. I liked the spread system we ran in 2010.
I wasn’t pining to bring him back. I’ll ride with Dana.We want the guy back who literally said “unfortunately there aren’t any drills to improve ball security” when he was here?
Have none of you noticed how you can win games by not turning the ball over likes it’s a contest to see who on the team can be the most careless with the pigskin?
JFC
That was largely a product of having a QB who could torch you with his feet. Run fakes meant something with TM and TA.He at least could scheme open some easy throws.

Texass got better after him…Yes please. I wanted him promoted when we fired Pelini. Very good OC who functioned pretty well under extreme duress from his boss. Recruited Texas very well. I think he could have kept what Pelini had going. Very organized guy but not sure he would have been a good long term solution. I think he was too far from his natural recruiting base at CC.
Todd Peterson and Nate Swift were cooking in 2008. Beck was on the staff, but as the running backs coach. Can we hire him as OC? His offenses made KU dangerous and made Tommy Armstrong and Taylor Martinez competent. Also our WRs got open. Helped make up for our defenses
He was the scapegoat there. I don’t believe he had control of that offense. Pelini screamed and cursed at him but Beck called the plays. He came up with some pretty innovative stuff…some of which workedTexass got better after him…
Beck was one of the best RB recruiters for NU in the past 25 years. He was tremendous at identifying talent at the skill position.I wasn’t a huge Beck fan, but I’ll give credit where credit is due on the numbers.I often thought that Taylor Martinez and Tommy Armstrong bailed him out a lot with their athleticism. I preferred Shawn Watson over Beck. I liked the spread system we ran in 2010.
The whole fanbase is poisoned with this nonsense. It’s maddening. I’ve never seen other fanbases like this. Wacky behaviorWhy do people here continually have an infatuation with re-hiring former Nebraska coaches that never achieved the level of success they demanded at the time? What reason can there be to recycle these people that are seeking employment? It makes no sense.

Get to that "Iowa level" before exceeding it.There is often times this weird idea that if they are from here or worked here that they must have some magical dust. That it will help them "understand" this place.
This place is easy to understand. Just win a lot of games. Nothing else is going to matter for the most part.
This is not iowa where us fans just want that #WinningSeason
You mean making a lame bowl game?Get to that "Iowa level" before exceeding it.
Getting there first should be a priority, correct?
I'm more referring to a longer term of winning and not constantly having so much coaching turnover. You mean making a lame bowl game?
Yeah, NU did it.
2 more minimum unless he puts up 4 wins or less. 3-4 years more likely.I'm more referring to a longer term of winning and not constantly having so much coaching turnover.
Scapegoating assts every year only works short term.
Given the increasing number of B1G and SEC schools canning coaches with huge buyouts, I think MR gets 1-2 more years.
Will the fan base take >2 years if 8 wins is the ceiling?2 more minimum unless he puts up 4 wins or less. 3-4 years more likely.
